Sometimes i wonder if the team is in denial. It's been so many season, and it's always the same excuse. We'll focus on next year's car. We are shifting our focus on next year's car. bla bla bla...

Thing is, from what i recall, Ferrari were probably the first team to focus on the 2012 car...and yet not only it's the ugliest, it's also 1-1.5 secs slower then Mclaren and Mercedes.

I think the 2012 is a write off. F1-live.com mentioned that Stefano said that back in 2010, Alonso had the same amount of points he had as this year. And he challenged for the WDC. Dear Stefano, the past is in the past. Alonso challenged for the WDC. And he failed. No one if gonna remember that. Everyone will remember Vettel. I don't understand why they keep referring to the past.

Honestly, i hope MS and Merc can work together and be champions. What a slap to the face it will be for the Scuderia.

the season is very much over guys even if ferrari reinvent the whole car

history is repeating itself as well, ferrari will slump badly down the order while they keep talking the same old crap in every interview or article

How in the hell they put a Pull Rod Suspension in is beyond me. It is not only the front suspension that sucked but the rear is not too stable, with lack of traction out of the corners. They need to get the design team better focused and perhaps a guy like Briatore instead of a Dumbencali.

To be fair to Ferrari, with a place like Fiorano and no testing is a joke in F1. The only sport that the athletes cannot practice during the year. Typical of the Socialist European Mentality of giving in too the Poor Teams that have been around for a few years versus the Real Teams that have the backing and history to be able to compete at the top level. For God's Sake its F1 let them Test to their hearts content, I guarantee you Ferrari would get it right like during Schumi's time.

There is an interview with Briattore, in Autosprint I think, and actually he supports Domenicalli. He said that Domenicalli can do no more to improve the situation, he gave the engineers carte blanche and the resources they needed and it´s up to them to fix the car.

Coming from Flavio, that´s a quite cautious comment.

Fry recruited a rather odd choice for building their aero department. Last seen with Marussia and Jaguar/Red Bull before that in 07. Interesting. Should ultimately work out for them though.

    John,

you could be a bit more specific than "ultimately"? Or have you lost all faith?..i.e, will the wait between the last title and the future one be 21 years like between 1979 and 2000?
May the force be with them.

Mercedes also hired Geoff Willis from HRT last year.

I suppose not everybody in the team can be a star.

I think it will take them a couple years to really end up on the sharp end of the grid again. I don't think they will have a substantial wait as it seems Fry is very proactive in building the departments where they need to be built. It's tough to know what an aero guy is capable of when their only experience has been with teams with limited budgetary means. Ferrari must have seen something in him.

Geoff Willis is basically the Adrian Newey of the 90s. The guy has proven himself over and over. How he ended up at HRT I have no idea, but before that he was behind RB5/RB6 then left the Red Bull team just before 2010.

Of all I have seen this season, it leads me to believe this season is another write-off.

I wonder if "Mac-chat" has the same nay-sayers and Debbie-Downers as we have here? :)

Bwah, bwah, bwah - "It's a writeoff", "the pull rod system sucks", "they were too conservative", "they weren't conservative enough", "they should start on next years car", "fire everyone" bwah, bwah.

We're 3 races into a 20 race season, they're 3rd in the WCC and poor old Phil has yet to trouble the scorers.

They're probably gonna struggle again this weekend. OTOH, maybe the heat will help them more than others. Maybe Phil will get a balance he can deal with.

Then they've got the Mugello test and a break before Spain to try and get Clifford fixed - We know they have the resources, they're working hard and will win again this year IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

It's a bit far fetched, but perhaps all the naysayers could be flat wrong and Ferrari build upon this new approach and understand it and are a second quicker than everyone next season. Could this new technology/approach they have be that much of a breakthrough? I doubt it, but I suppose anything is possible.

It's all cyclical - They'll be back one way or another. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. Seems Pat Fry is making some *big* changes in the way the team operates. Hopefully, he doesn't get into a pissing contest with the Italians......

I guess those on RBR-Chat are calling for Adrians head right now! ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

It may or may not be a good idea. Until they get the back fixed who knows.
I think that they were caught flat footed with the exhaust ruling.
With cars being "systems" these days one change screws up everything else.

I'm very glad Fry is shaking things up there. They seemed to have slumped into their old Italian ways for a bit there! They'll be back on their feet and it will be Ferrari/Mercedes hacking it out against one another in a couple years, just the way God intended it :)

I´ve always though that the Adrian Newey of the 90s was Adrian Newey.

Actually, I can´t remember any significant success of any team led by Willis.

Hah. Yes good point. Willis was William's chief aerodynamacist in the 90s. He was a consultant at Leyton-House prior to that and that's how he met Newey, and of course Newey was the one who recruited him to Williams.
