Does anyone know details or history of my car a 330 gts sn 09765?, I bought it in 2007 in California. It seems that it has the dashboard of a 275 gtb.
It perhaps had an accident i 1970-1980?
    I hope somebody can help.

I did some service work on that car about 5 years ago. I believe it was a very early car like the 23rd 330GTS built. Besides the earlier dash, it also had the 275GTS center console. I don't know who did the restoration but it had some other strange features that I wont mention here. Good luck with it.

This explanation doesn't sit well with me. 9765 is not an early car, it was built close to a year after the first one.

The first production 330GTS, 9199, already has the 330GTC dash, just like a late one, like 10789. Here are both interiors (photo of 9199, left, by Collectorcar.com, photo of 10789, right, by Talacrest).

[EDIT: 9733 for sale at Talacrest, very close production # to 9765, also has the same dash]

Yes the car is red and black. I have talked with the Ferrari faktory and the car was original delivered with the normal dash and center console The reason why I ask for the accident is because the A/C was taken out and the firewall between cabin and motorarea was also changed. I have bought 330 gtc sn 10261 and I am starting to install the parts from that car into the 9765.

    Kenth,

I hope you are not sacrificing a good GTC in order to correct deficiencies in another car. We need to preserve these fantastic cars.

A car at a time. I have in the last 12 months found 90% of all parts that I am missing, so for now I borrow the last parts that I have not been found from the 330 GTC (air vents, hand brake, chrome parts for door and so on) After GTS,has past Ferrari Classiche I will continue to look for the missing parts, so that both cars will eventually be original.

One of Ferrari Chats members have found these papers in its archives. It seems that the car was stolen and burned in 1967 and was restored in 1974 by John B. Stinger in Louisville. This may explain the low 8028 miles the car had run in 1999. That was the "accident" I was looking for.
Does anyone know if Peter Kirsche is the first owner of 9765? I am very grateful for the rapid and significant interest there is to help me.

    Kenth,

What engine number is in your car? I have been tracking these cars for 25+ years. Let me know if there is anything I can help with - I have many pictures and some spares. Did Sean ever find the serial number of the crashed car?

Thanks Sean. Thought that was the serial number from your other posts. My big book of 330 GTS info is on loan to a restorer right now but I will send you what I have on that car as soon as I can.

Good luck with finding the correct parts for 09765 but I don't think you should be submitting the car to Ferrari Classiche and when you have the Certificate remove the parts off it to go back on the GTC that you borrowed. That would be an invalid Classiche Certificate as far as I'm concerned and would be misleading to any future buyer of the car. Submit the car when you've found the correct parts for it without having to "borrow" them off the GTC.

I have looked at more than one certified car in european auctions that had many obviously incorrect parts, so clearly the owners/dealers are happily swapping bits around to secure the precious anointment.

A Classiche certificate does not change caveat emptor.

I have been so lucky that Eurospares in UK, 2 month ago received a lot of Pinin Farina spare parts and I was able to locate the last spare parts i was missing, the car is rebuild and is at the moment by Ferrari i Denmark for certificasion. A certificate will only prouve that the car is original at that time, any owner/ new owner can do what he will with the car after. I have asked for a certification for my own pleasure not for somebody else.

    Motor number of my 2 x 330.

    9765 330GTS #2498

    For the GTC:

    10261 330GTC #2654

There is a happy conclusion to this story, at least for chassis 10261. It is now completely restored, engine rebuilt, bare metal respray to original colour, brightwork rechromed, retrimmed inside, brakes refurbished etc.
