After trying my best as a DIY'er to get my 400 to run properly, I took it for a dyno test -to see if my perceptions were about right. Sharing the results with you, I must say I'm proud of my Italian mistress !!! (A bit tricky to get a smooth power curve with the auto gearbox trying to avoid kickdown.) http://youtu.be/r42kCTByyh0 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
239 kW = 320 horsepower. I like the way the curve stays at that level for 2000 rpm, from 5000 to 7000.
Sure thing I knew the engine have lots of torque, but was a bit surprised to see the incredible steep red torque curve, it really happens a lot between 3000 and 4000rpm !! Pretty decent figures -Even by todays standard. Harald
That must be why Ferrari power always feels so smooth almost linear. The higher the rpm the faster you go not peaky like an american V8 which consistently builds to max power then falls off (much narrower max power RPM range). Or on the graph a steep positive slope to max power and fast drop afterward. Good stuff!
