i have recently purchased a 1985 mondial.the car is a euro model and has what i call an import plate that states manufactured 1984.the big question i have is how do you tell the difference between the two different 4 valve engines.my car was advertised as a 3.2 and i had a place that tried to decipher the euro serial number and they thought it was a 3.2 but i am still not convinced.any help would be great.thanks, fred

It's very possible as "model year" wasn't always the same for euro and US (for example, there are 1980 carbed euro 308 and 1982 euro 308QV, but not in the US).

Look for the engine family marking on top of the engine block at cyl #1. This photo shows a US version 3.2 F105C040 engine family marking:

    A euro 3.2 would be F105C or F105C000

    A euro 3.0QV would be F105A or F105A000

All the 3.2 engines (used in all the 328's and the Mondial's) had the aluminum w/ red inset background intake plenums with the words "3200 quattrovalvole" cast in them ---- looks like this...

If your plenum does not look exactly like this one, then your car has the 3.0 engine.
