Very nice. A seat of the pants acceleration comparison between the 40 and the GTO would be interesting - even though they are quite different cars.

Congratulations! I can only imagine what an F40 owner back in 1988 would think the first time they saw their F40 parked next to the future GTO.

Very well-said, from the man who knows!

For the vast majority of us, top speed isn't good for much more than bragging rights. You can't drive 200 mph on the road, and to be honest, I'd be terrified to do so.

The truth: I want a car that requires me to drive. I'm not interested in electronic gizmos and geegaws, and a "clinical" feel is a deal-breaker.

I want three pedals that require a bit of thinking and even some work. I want to do my own shifting. I want to feel and hear the roar of the turbos.

Top speed is not what makes the driving experience. Hell, a Mustang or Camaro can go pretty fast - in a straight line. It's about feeling the acceleration, hearing the roar, handling the car precisely, knowing I'm driving. I want to "come out of the car shaking," not marveling at how fast I went without feeling anything.

So, JMO, of the three choices, there's no contest: F40. (Congrats, Randy. You made the right choice, IMO.)

Im aware that many respcted people place the f40 at top of the pantheon but isnt a high revving n/a engine more entertaining then a forced induction one? To say nothing about manual steering and brakes. F40 is amazing but i would take an enzo if cost taken out of equation

Combo of gto and f40 is pretty perfect. Enjoy

Not dissing the Enzo, but to me, the F40 is at the top of the pantheon. Manual steering and brakes work in its favor, not against it. JMO

    Congrats Randy! Great choice :D

Depends on when it was filmed. He also states that the F1 is "still the fastest road car in the world" so it predates the Bugatti Veyron (therefore produced earlier than 2005).

the problem with the Enzo (as I see it which aint sayin much), is its a modern car. there will always be something newer and faster coming along to replace the enzo. in fact one is supposedly coming this year. so then what? It'll still be a great car, but it wont be THE car. But nobody is coming out with a new F40.

I love the F40 and love the F40 that the OP picked up (really gorgeous example), but the "digital sucks"/"analog is the pinnacle of everything it means to be human" argument is really just exhausting after a while.

It isnt just true with cars, the same thread runs through nearly all human discourse and seems to always have. There is always a crowd who will passionately argue that whatever "was" is all there ever should have been and whatever "is", is an abomination with seemingly no hint of irony at all.

Im sure that when Henry Ford burst onto the scene there were people decrying the loss of the bond between "man and beast" that you could only get by riding a horse and how no "real man" would pilot some hell spawned infernal contraption that spit black smoke out its rear :D
