Found BFG g force sport comp 2 tires for 113.00 rear and 96.00 other end. Sounds like a good deal or does it sound to good to be true. Any one using these skins?

Seems to be the going rate at a couple places. Very good price.

They are a rather hard tire - tread wear @ 340 IIRC. Depending on how/where you drive they could be fine. But I would not like them for runs through the twisties. I just bought the Kumho ecstas for my TR - went with the 265/45/16 for the rear. They are out of stock most everywhere but Kumho says that should be rectified in a few months...

    Hi Steve,
    My TR came with them.
I don't care for them much because the rubber compound is pretty hard, 340 treadwear rating.
Great for an SUV, not so much for cornering.
I will be going with the Kumho's, 265/45-16, treadwear 180, if and when I buy new.

I would think a harder tire would put less stress on the differential and be a good thing.

I just bought a set yesterday, I'll provide feedback after I have driven them a while. I also don't track the car or drive in the wet, there are some good mountain roads here that I do enjoy driving but not hard. I couldn't find the Kumho rears and couldn't wait for them to start production later this year. According to Goodrich this Comp-2 is a new version of the original G-Force tires that others have used, so we'll see how they do.

BTW I'm actually going backwards from 18" 512TR wheels sporting Pirelli P-Zero 295/35/18 and 245/40/18s to the original 16" wheels/BFGs. The P-Zero's have some wear left but I have sidewall damage on one rear rendering it (IMO) unsafe at highway speeds. I haven't checked the dates but these are pretty old tires, looks like Pirelli has been producing the Nero & Corsa (which these aren't) for several years. I'll keep the 512 wheels for the day when there are no more 16" tires but for now prefer the "original" look the 16's provide.

Thanks guys for the timely answers. Have worn out a set of Goodyear Eagle HPs in the past 7 years and 12k miles. Still have perhaps 2/10 tread and thats not much. Same hard 340 as the BFGs. Very noisy also. Would have the Michelins but the cost is way to high. So you parked your TR eh DJ. Just did a 80 mi rounder Sunday and that hand grenade lurking in the tranny/dif is ever present on my feeble mind.

Yes I did park the TR. Especially after Robert Hayden's mess.
I have reverse Irish luck. Not taking any chances.
The new carrier is sitting on a shelf waiting for the 30k.

Nice looking boat. That's what you need, A WOODEN BOAT, with a Packard V-12! (No maintenance there!:))

Not enough difference to compensate for the crap design.

I am looking at the Kumho's, 265/45-16. I do not care about the wear as I do not put much miles on the car.

Just purchased the BFGs from tirecrawler.com. Going to be a hard ride like the Goodyear Eagles but at least something with tread.

Yep. Have had it 28 years with the first three of them restoring the howling little monster. Been a great ride. My cool son now has the honors. Lucky guy. Your a sled puller. Know where there are any old, rusty, useless v-12 aircraft momos?

My son is lining up for all my Ferraris, 800+hp sled pullng Dodge CTD, and my firearm collection in my safe. Not quite as nice as a P51 but he should be happy. Plus he is excited about my investment timber plantation at my farm... I'll be dead before it is ready for harvest but it should take care of him and his sister when they are ready for retirement.

back on topic, I am looking at these Kumhos.

My TR will never see a wet road so I do not need wet treads. I also want to get out to the track and want sticky tires. These tires are also street legal.

Installed the BFG G-Sport Comp 2 tires last weekend. I've only put a few miles of city driving on them so far, so not much to report. Going back to the 16" wheels and adding these tires definitely restored the factory look I was seeking :) Unfortunately my ride height dropped ~.5" all around so I scrape every time going into the garage--I wasnt sure how the ride height would be affected coming from the 18" 512TR wheels and lower profile P-Zero's, now I know :( (for most of you not changing wheel size this shouldn't be a factor). I haven't noticed any more (or less) road noise than the P-Zero's, but I do have some vibration in the steering wheel at/> ~70 MPH that was not there before, perhaps from the harder compound. The wheels/tires were all mounted/balanced by a Les Schwab Tire Center as I watched--they were very thorough and careful, so I don't think its a balance issue. I think the speedo indicates 1 or 2 MPH more than actual whereas with the other setup it was dead-balls on accurate--not enough to be a concern. All in all I'm happy so far, we'll see how I feel after I get it out on the twisties and a few more highway miles. Also got a good first-look at the suspension bushings, they are definitely wearing/worn (car has 42K miles on original bushings) so that may be a factor as well--will be swapping those this summer.

A few photos below, the last one with the 16" BFGs on front and 18" P-Zeros on back as I was swapping.
