Nah, the new speakers sound good and I can hear the radio pretty well even with the loud exhaust so there's no need for a sub.

I decided to order the replacement foil sticker as a temporary fix and later on, when I can afford it, I will get a proper replacement.

Hopefully, Bruce will still have them in the future...

You must be aware that the stainless inserts are about 1/4 inch too long and too wide for the Carbonio inserts.

I ended up having to cut the inserts to get them to fit.

Carbonio and Jamie should get together, make sure the measurements are compatible and sell the inserts as a package. They're both in Canada after all!

I hope Bruce doesn't get pissed off, but after all the money, time, and energy you spent on your restoration I think you deserve a completion gift.

PM me your shipping address and I'll ship you my F355 air bag (both central emblem and covering are in perfect condition).

Note that all years are compatible. You will need a Torx T-30 SAFETY bit (not a normal Torx bit). I may even have one lying around. If so I'll send it with the air bag.

Hope it provides the finishing touch.

Absolutely nothing. That's what FChat is all about. Assisting one another in times of need.

PM me your shipping address and I'll send it out. One caveat however, is that I might not be able to get down to the USPS until next Saturday, as I have to go to NYC. But I will try my best to get it out tomorrow.

Great thread, just read it all!

A quick question though... What are the numbers on the air boxes? My car is away having a 'major' at the moment so I can't walk downstairs and check mine but I'm fairly sure they're very different numbers to yours. I've always wondered but never asked.

    168967 and 168966 are the numbers for the 5.2 motronic 355s (96-99)

Mine is a 95 so the part numbers are different since they connect at the top instead of the side. 1995 355s have the 2.7 motronic and the part numbers are 154729 and 154730

See, that's what I thought, but I'm sure my numbers are totally different! (I'm probably wrong). Thanks for the reply.

Just to let everyone know that Fabspeed really took care of my problem and the service I received was superb. I am happy with the product and the way I was taken care of.

Great work on your car! To add, Fabspeed is a quality shop. I picked up their Max Flow race cats and muffs for my 993 and the workmanship was very impressive.

Can't believe that there are unloved 355's out there, bit of a statement on the human condition, no respect! Every Ferrari owner on purchasing a Ferrari should sign a document of title stating that they are custodians of this car until such time as the die or sell them. However due to enthusiasts like you guys the fabulous F355 will endure through the ages. I'm currently working on an unloved 355CH race car and a 308GTBiQV that needs some TLC. Both cars from owners that really didn't care much about the marque. If they did, how could you treat these cars in this way. Only new to FChat and the information available and camaraderie amongst all the posters is great. Thanks guys, I wouldn't get my knickers in a knot over colour, It's only paint. Dark Metallic Green does look good however, but you have to live with the car so paint it in whatever colour floats your boat.

    Fab,

Good Job. I remember that green POS. Some say you could have saved the effort and bought a good 355 for $70K but owning Ferraris is a labor of love for the hobby. You learned way more than you ever could just buying the car and you got a car exactly the way you want it. You never could have really bought that and even if you tried to buy a sorted $70K 355 there are always little things that add up to a couple thousand. You should have 5 years of free driving...enjoy it! The wicked sound of the 355 makes all the pain worth it. Nothing sounds as good before or since the 355.

Guaglio' you've done a great job! I wasn't sure about you changing the original colour, but the red looks amazing! The green can only look good on an MG anyway :)
I love the colour of the leather as well and exhaust looks pimpin'!

Enjoy the ride, summer is here!!

I have to admit that when I read the very first post, and saw the pics of that heavily neglected car, I thought "this poor bastard is crazy... This can't end well"

After following all of these wonderful updates I am really happy to have been wrong!

This is without a doubt one of the all time great build threads and you are a true hero for tackling a project like this, meticulously documenting it and being totally transparent with the level of effort and budget involved as a guide to those who might try to tackle a similar project in the future.

Huge kudos to you and to the master craftsmen involved...

    Hi Treedeed,

Since you changed the color of you car from green to red I was wondering what the paint guys did about the VIN bar code sticker on the (driver side) door jamb. As I recall, the outer edges of that sticker are clear so if the painters just tape around it the original color would be visible around the edges.

Could you post a picture of how that came out?
