Just curious since its not likely to see one on the road. I would like to see one up close and discuss maintenance requirements (thinking about buying one).

I will also post on the Texas board (but I know alot of people don't visit the regional boards).

    Thanks

I visited Sphere Motorsports a couple weeks ago and they were working on one. They may be able to give you some advice.

Never say never to seeing one on the road.
I was driving mine down the freeway a few years ago, looked in my rear view mirror to merge onto the offramp, and saw a silver Boxer right behind me!

If you're interested in them, they're great cars, just get a good one! Mine's a BB, others like the BBi better. Lot's of info here for the asking!

Guilty as charged. The red bb here in Houston at Sphere is mine. Marks doing a comprehensive engine out, along with the peripherals, and it should be ready in a few weeks. I've had the car about 4years, and would be glad to answer any questions about ownership you have. I can say without hesitation, it still makes me smile, and my AMG Mercedes is boring in comparison!

Not to hijack the thread (OK, just a little) can you send me an e-mail regarding your shop in Houston and your take on its competency, prices, turnaround time, etc?
    Thanks!

IMO, SphereMotorsports - the one of the best shops in Houston, and Mark Darragh, the owner, - is a real expert and a very honest guy. I do all repairs of my Ferraris requiring a lift at his shop and recommend this shop very highly !

Hey Shark01, I heard you stopped by sphere and were able to check out my boxer at the shop. I was wondering if you were able to get some good feedback from Mark on bb's in general, and if there was any other questions about ownership you might have.

    Thanks,
    Sam

    Sam,
Yes, stopped in last Friday to see a Boxer in person. Like some other cars, pictures don't do it justice. Your car has great flowing lines in front (the back clamshell was still off), far better than the 308/328. Its a great looking aggressive masculine car that also has an aspect of beauty.

Yes, Mark was very helpful and great to talk to. He indicated maintenance (provided the car is bought reasonably sorted) would be less than the $5k/yr I am budgeting, although I understand your service is much more involved.

He said a couple of interesting things like if you buy a 12 cyl car you won't want to buy a V8 later, and he would actually recommend for me a 550, which I hadn't given much thought too previously. One of my character flaws is I tend to be swayed by the newer flashier cars....and lose my A@$ in depreciation. I hate that.

I am starting to track Boxer prices so I can see what is available for how much....

Thanks for your offer to ask questions at some point when I get more educated. On the other hand, if you ever need a co-pilot for a drive I can be available....LOL

Too funny. I was in a similar situation, re: buying a newer model car, at that time i was looking at a 360 or 550, but I'd been a boxer fan since I was young. I'll let you know when I get it out and we'll run her.

as a note, i really like the 550 but i would in now way say it as flashy as a bb.

    Thanks Sam...

I bet the prices on 360s and 550s have dropped ALOT since you were looking right?

Part of the problem....the 550 is a good looking car, but doesn't stand out when there are great looking cars like Grand Tourismo and Astons around.
