A man in the same vein as Enzo. Never was a Ford fan but I think he influenced/motivated other makers to rise to the performance standards we enjoy today.
Sad news today about the passing of this legend. As we all know, he was snubbed by Enzo Ferrari and went on to waive the Stars & Stripes overseas and make us proud ... at Enzo's expense, you might say. I expect I'll get blested for reciting that story on the Ferrari site, but his was a life bloody well lived. Rest In Peace
I just saw the sad news on the Speed Channel and came here to view any posts about how he died. He was truly a great legend in the car world. I remember meeting him when I was a small boy in El Segundo, CA. I rode my stingray to a gas station off of PCH and was filling air in my tire, when Carroll drove up in a blue with white stripe GT 350 which was a brand new car at the time. It was one of the most beautiful cars I had ever seen in person at the time. I told him how much I liked it and he thanked me and told me it was very fast. I had hoped I could meet him again sometime and see if he remembered meeting me, but now the chance has passed. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to his family.
Sad news. I've always appreciated the 60s Shelby GT350 and Cobra. He was a ledgend in the car world and he will be missed.
I was very fortunate to be able to spend some time with him last year. Today is a very sad day. He will be missed.
He was a nice guy to meet. I met him personally at a shelby convention years ago. We offered him to come have a beer with us and he sat at our table(but no beer) talking about the big crash in 1969 at Tremblant. He autographed my shirt on my back. I will never forget.
While not necessarily Ferrari related, it's worth note...
