Is anyone going to make one? start one? or something?
To support such a registry, I will supply the info on mine. The vin no. ends with 0086498. It is red/red. I acquired the car in January of 1993, with 221 miles on it. While the car can be a little edgy, it will definitely put a smile on your face. Other than the Enzo, the F-40 is probably my favorite Ferrari. Gerald Barnes
Impressive list of cars!! How did you like the MC12? Please share some pictures of the magnificent 4 together Andrew
Pretty cool, I had no idea you were a member here! I've seen your Enzo many times, and I love your Veyron's bespoke livery. I had the pleasure of attending your church's car show back in 2009. How many miles are on your F40 today?
Joe, I have Mr. Barnes' F40 as the 43rd US F40 - does that match what you have? Gerald, can you tell us the build date of your F40? I'm assuming it was built in July, 1990. Since you picked it up in '93, is it safe to assume you're not the original owner? Do you recall who originally took delivery, and/or the original dealership through which this car was delivered?
86498 was built in July. Dealer for car was Auto Torino LTD in Great Neck, NY. I do not have all my notes from the time of purchase but the car was brokered by Prestige Motorcar in Miami. I seem to remember the original owner was a wealthy Texan, with a huge car collection, that tried to corner the market on F-40's and ended up losing a lot of money. The name I am not remembering right now. When I received the car it was basically perfect with the exception that the luggage was missing. I was able to buy a set of the luggage shortly thereafter. I did not look to verify but believe mileage is about 2200 at this point. The MC-12 is huge. it is much longer, wider, and has a longer wheelbase than the Enzo. The visibility is very tough and the car is less powerful than the Enzo. That being said, I am told that the car is incredible on the track. Not nearly as much fun on the street as the Enzo.
Thank you very much for this additional, detailed information. When I saw it on 28 August 2009 (at Friend's Church in Anaheim), it had 2,916 miles, so perhaps it has 3,200 now?
Thank you for bringing it! It just looks so awesome in "orange" - I also noticed you brought a Daytona Spyder! Very nice! I'm downloading my pictures now - I took 1,003, so it's gonna take a while.
My notes are better than my memory! From what I recall between his partner & himself, there were something like 8 F40s.
I got to see part of his collection on display in Houston about 20 years ago. Had about a hundred or so cars on display, just part of his collection at the time. No Ferraris on display but lots of pre-war Mercedes, Bugatis, Dusenburgs and V16 Cadillacs. Very Impressive. I remember reading that he had 60+ Ferraris at the time and bought the first 10 or so F40s for the US.
Think there will be at least two Enzos at Cars and Coffee this Saturday. Keep forgetting to check the mileage on F-40 but will do so.
