You're the man, Pap, thank you! That looks great too - that's what so many other Ferrari interiors are missing.
may i ask ... are you a collector of serial numbers in general, good sir ... or just 599's ... or just 3-pedal 599's? I may have something of interest, to perhaps discuss privately
He's got an incredible database thats extremely helpful. He has my info. (along with everyone else's. )
Here are some pictures for now of my dad's car. These are just iphone shots and not best so please excuse the quality. I will upload more pics to my computer as soon as possible and those will have much better quality. I love the car and would say it is my favorite ferrari my dad has ever owned. So much fun. The sound of that V12 going threw the gears is unbelieveable. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Photos taken yesterday. However, we removed the clear bra this morning and the color looks so much more vibrant. We are installing Fabspeed pipes to replace secondary cats; and lowering the car. We'll take a cool video by Friday. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I collect all Ferrari serial numbers, not just 599s or three-pedal 599s. Please feel free to PM or e-mail me ([email protected]) with whatever information you're willing to provide. In turn, I'll reply with whatever history I might have on your car(s). LOL, not everyone's. Wow, that looks fantastic! Is that Pozzi?
No worries mate, anytime. And yep, it looks great. Would LOVE to see a stick in a 458. Can anyone photoshop it?
Nice cars! A good variation: race car for the streets and a 6speed V12 GT. Did you get rid of the stripe on the CS yet? I remember saying you would.
so nice to hear a 3 pedal review. If/when I get my 599 I only want 3 pedals. I can't find the same level of enjoyment in the f1 cars. I remember reading a post on here about someone and one of his negatives on the manual car was he was nervous around other people and stalled. Are you kidding learn how to drive a stick lol. i'm die hard 3 pedal. I will say maybe on a track i'd think differently, but i don't have the kind of cash that allows me to track a Ferrari (I'll stick to manual bmws).
Right. I remember it was 3 solid white lines. Any plans to put a factory style tri-color stripe on? I think it would look amazing either was. So as to not take away from the meaning of this thread, you couldnpost some pictures in the 360 CS picture thread when you can.
I think you are right. It needs practice to drive a manual transmission smoothly. But personally I find it very rewarding. Nothing beats the metallic click when you push the lever in to the right slot. Just perfect! Tomorrow I am picking up my 3 pedal 612 from the Ferrari dealership. Can you guys blow some sunshine in this direction?
I just read an article today which stated that the 599 is the LAST Ferrari ever produced with a manual transmission. Left the factory in January of 2012. Indeed, you have a rare item and one that in time will fetch a hefty price on the market. Kudos to you for making the leap. Enjoy her!
It's so gratifying to know there are others who see a manual as the drivers' choice it is in a GT like the 599. As a car fanatic first and foremost (NOT just an F-car fan), I simply prize "engagement" in my driving -- Be it at the track, navigating traffic or running an errand. For me, that means a manual gearbox in every car I own: Even my daily driver wagon sports a resale-proof third pedal! In my opinion, it's worth it: It elevates the challenge, the experiential quality and the enjoyment of every...single...drive. To my eyes, Ferrari (and perhaps some drivers) are failing to realize the difference between reducing the quantitative lap time at a track and increasing the qualitative driving experience on the road. A sequential gearbox is a technical feat of perfection and suits many folks' desire for ultimate speed or race-like equipment. No contest, there. But I don't want perfection. I want the imperfect challenge of using my heal-and-toe skills. I want to lazily upshift as I cruise away from the lights, enjoying that exhaust bark as I go. I want to enjoy that little pat on the back I give myself when I time a perfect downshift, measuring the throttle, speed and flywheel weight just right before a crisp re-engagement. And, yes, I even want to feel that little cringe when I get it a touch wrong, to motivate me to concentrate a bit more on the next one. That's fun! That's...analogue! So, kudos for taking the "old school" route I would with an old school V12 road car like this one. And enjoy the drive.
I just can't imagine my usual dialog with my car with an F1: "Uh, sorry sweeties.. didn't mean to go that low","Ahh that's just perfect","Too high for that gear sweetie.. there we go".. Yes. I talk to my car when I drive. And I will miss it with an F1 videogame (track is different..).
a manual 612 that's awesome congrats! and I agree the metallic clink is one of the things I enjoy most when driving my car.

Were you on 83 today turning by PDQ around 5ish? My mom (who rarely mentions cars) said she saw "some kind of amazing sounding black supercar" accelerating from the light and knowing Delafield I figured it was probably you.

driving isn't about shifting. driving is about driving. the less distractions the better. soon the manual will be gone and thank goodness. why dont you go chop some wood in the backyard to heat the house? and if manual shifting is so important then why don't you guys pine for roll up windows?
