I just checked my 1969 Euro Dino 246 GT #00508 Tipo L and found the exact same bumper edge indentation as Jon's. This was a new finding for me. Thanx. w/ smiles Jimmy
Thanx, Matthias. I knew that my L had same, thinner bumpers as 206s, but I wasn't aware of that minute detail of corner indentation. During my search few years back, my dilemma was between 206 and 246-L. For various reasons, I found this L available at the time which is what I was looking for. w/ smiles Jimmy
Congratulations on the car. Their timeless beauty is being realized in appreciating values. The crazing and cracking seen in the photo of the fuel filler reminds me so much of my 72' Daytona (90% original paint). Unfortunately, the Daytona had fairly bad alligatoring between the headlights from earlier repaints done there. The new owner is doing a complete restoration. Mechanically nothing will be needed. I enjoyed about seven years of ownership. Each year I said I was going to paint it but continued to receive the admiration of all those who saw it, as they knew what they were seeing. Not the same as a perfectly kept example, but enjoyed nonetheless. I hope you do enjoy these times when you are enjoying it "as is." You will remember them fondly as a special time. Enjoy the open roads!
Hello there; I´d to know if any 206 owner can check for me the tail height of a 206 gt; the distance between the rear end of the boot cover and the ground. It could be really helpful for me. thank you.
I`m just coming back from my holiday. I can check for you. You mean thr rear top end of the luggage boot lid to the ground, correct? Regards Matthias
I had a few spare hours today so we took a few parts off my 206 to try and move it along. Actually a lot has been done. The entire interior is done as well as all the chrome plating, so I have a good start. 00136 which was the 18th 206 produced is going to be repainted to Grigio Ferro Metallizzato! Should be stunning. I spent some time on my 206 today taking it apart to get it ready for body work and paint. I thought the 246 motors were tight in getting out, the 206 motor is really tight and in after thought it would of been much easier to remove the bell housing first.. Live and learn. Anyways it's out and will get a complete rebuild. The doors and all the lids are off and were delivered to the media blaster today. The gas tanks and fuel pumps were removed. There is quite a bit of difference between 206 and 246. I would like to get it on a rotisserie but I only have 2 and both in use. I think Grigio Ferro Metallizzato will be stunning on the 18th 206 made. You should know, I think an excellent choice you chose on your 246. My interior color is also similar of course no Daytona Seats. I thought your color combination was stunning!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Me too and that's why my 71 euro coupe will be the same color! It is on the East Coast so we won't be driving down the same streets! Great color!
I have all the the doors and lids disassembled and off the car and at the media blaster for blasting and metal etch primer. These doors are a lot lighter than a 246, being aluminum skinned. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In between the several projects going on, I found time today to continue stripping my 206 of all it parts while I also have my lift available. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a third rotisserie. There is a lot of differences between the 206 and 246 as you will see with todays work. Not much left to take off, as all the suspension, brakes etc were removed today along with the steering rack.. Many differenced between a 206 and 246. The fiberglass looks much more difficult to remove, I guess I'll find out soon! Pretty much down to the last of the fiberglass. The 206 is much more difficult than the 246 to get all the various fiberglass pieces out.
