sorry to wake up a dead thread but I just bought a 2005 CGT with 960 miles. GT silver metallic with dark grey. Love it.

There's no way to predict the value. Personally, I think it will be more along the lines of the jag xj220, a great car but it hasn't appreciated because it really broke no new ground. The 959 and upcoming 918 spyder I think will do better value wise as they both were/are groundbreaking technology wise.

That said, it's stupid to buy a car as an investment, so who cares? I saw one in person recently (in red) and have to say it didn't do much for me. I don't like that engine cover at all, and details like that can make or break a car for me. The 959 is probably my favorite Porsche, so that may cloud my judgment, but also like the upcoming 918.

I actually believe the 918 is the reason CGT's have crept up this last year. The cars aren't supposed to be a ton faster. They aren't Manuel. They aren't 100% gas and cylinders.

The one thing that will push them higher. The $800k 918 msrp. If the 918 was selling under 500k new the CGT values would drop. This elevated starting number makes the CGT an insane value at even $400k

Maintenance? Who cares. Have you serviced a f40 or f50 or even a 355 lately :)

Same deal when people thought the 458 was going to drop F430 prices.

What made you choose the CGT over the F40 as per one of your other threads?

At any rate, congrats on a beast of a car.

Jerome...aren't you the guy that got kicked all over the place for calling the CGT "a posers car, and no fun to drive"?
You must have had a real "come to jesus moment"! ;-)
Good for you though, and I hope you enjoy the hell out of it!

I had driven both an F40 and CGT a few years ago and did not have good memories of either. I decided to revist the cars as I had a few bucks to spend and went and spent 30 minutes on each car driving them.
I found the F40 to be thrilling but a bit crude and fragile feeling to me. Plus I knew that I would be less prone to jump in it and drive it 100 miles to a track and do some laps and drive home.
I then and spent time in a CGT and found it to be everything the F40 is plus 10! Its very tactile, organic and extremely driver centric. Plus I have a soft spot for Porsches as I bought a Cup Car from Porsche Motorsport in 2007 and ran it two years in the Grand Am Rolex series and have a 2000 GT3R/RSR I race in historic events.
The Carrera GT is a VERY involving car to drive and also wicked fast. It very much duplicates the sensations of driving an open cockpit LMP1 on the street.

I am indeed the guy who said that the CGT was a "posers" car but was only kidding and wanted to see what peoples/owners reactions were. Read my post above about it and the F40. I have always loved Porsches

Have just received a fire extinguisher setup from Sharkwerks that I will install this weekend and awaiting delivering of a safety harness setup from Carnewal. Once installed plan on using the car on track a LOT this summer
