I would have bet MS was going to win a race this year, but the way bad luck/mistakes are following him I wouldn't bet on it. It's just one of those things this year. I hope it will change but I fear that we will look back on this year as another lost chance for MS to win a final race. Hope I'm wrong.

Monaco and Canada would be awesome if he actually won!

He's probably screwed at Monaco considering his grid penalty.

In my opinion with the first team victory at the new Mercedes F1 team taken by Rosberg, MS comeback is essentially over. I have no doubt it was envisioned by himself and possibly the team that MS would make that bit of history.

The more I think about it he should retire and for good from F1. This last race along with some other events in the last 2 years are reminders of what he is no longer. Eventually you leave. He needs to leave. He made his mark and to be the last of his generation driving is enough. He did that. He came back and has not done well. We can make all the excuses we want.

In F1 you get breaks and also you make your own luck. He doesnt appear capable with in the current structure to make his own luck or breaks anymore. He is consistently unlucky given how inconsistent he is. Nico appears much more in tune and in charge. MS appears to be along for the ride more than leading the effort. That is wholly un like him. Thats part of the problem in my opinion.

The more I see him and his style the less in touch he appears to be with the current generation. He's done. He's out of place.

Thar makes no sense. Did MS "make his own poor luck" but qualifying in the top 5 three times this year?

He will catch a couple breaks, get some good finishes, then this talk will end.

2006. Back of the grid to 5th. If he didn't loose control and park, he would have won the race, and probably the championship.

    Hoping for a wet race.

Well, his car was one of the best on the grid then and he was a better/younger driver. A safety car could really shake things up, though. Something I can see happening...drivers' tires will be falling off a cliff suddenly and guys are going to end up being caught out and crashing.

He should win sooner, he has more going for him...a faster car and being 11 years younger.

Some folks still like to live in the past :D. People make their own luck. I laugh at the excuses people come up with for 3 freaking seasons now. What's next; bringing Mario Andretti back to F1? I'm 50, and in better shape than most 30-year-olds. But I'M AGING, even though I don't feel, look, or act my age at all :D. And that's what most here don't seem to accept. We just can't compete at the top level with kids half our age; simple fact of life. And MS is another sad case of athletes hell bent on defying nature. Can't do that. They can be competitive, yes. But compared to the best in the world, they look almost like rookies. They'll never be at the top again. They can't adapt like a kid can. They have 2 choices: retire at the top, in your own terms. Or stay until you're kicked out like an old dog (ask Barrichello). Life goes on, and they'll have to learn to do something else with it, sooner or later.

Don't hold anything back, tell us how you really feel!

You also seem to think you know how others think and feel so therein lies your flawed opinion. Hmm the best in the world and competeing against them, if memory serves me MS is consistantly qualifying and finishing in the top ten unlike 3/4's of the field who are half his age.

yeah....poor old MS. I'd hate to be in his place

    *shakes head*

43yo and driving in F1...and getting paid for it, and all the perks that come with it, that poor old bastard! I feel sorry for him.

He doesn't look like a rookie. He clearly has the pace, and has qualified in the top 5 3 different times this year, probably would have been 4 had his DRS not broken in Bahrain. Maybe all those guys that qualified behind him in those races like Button, Kimi, Rosberg Alonso etc should all retire?

Yeah, yeah I know it's just qualifying but he hasn't caught much luck in the races yet and he has proven that he can hold his own pace wise. His race pace is even better than his quali pace.

Don't mistake physical punishment (football) to physical stamina (racing) and mental agility (both, but definitley more so in F1 as it is so constant).

Violinists and concert pianists for instance require both remarkable mental agility and phsyical stamina, are rarely do either of these peak before their 40s. It's sort of an odd comparison, but not really when you think about it.

Schu's peak was in his late 20s early 30s, and then I believe he had a string of amazing cars which he helped develop in a brain-trust environment he and Brawn/Todt built. Schu is just incredibly reckless now, but he is still fast, not as fast as he used to be, but still very fast to the point that his race pace as an average is every bit as good as his teammates, and better on occasions when he doesn't crash himself out or have some other nonense hamstrang him. Schu just knows how to set the car up for race pace better. Heck, Andretti used to help set up his son's nascars will into his late 50s.

I hate to say it but Micheal hit the wall last week when he rear ended Bruno.
That was just a stupid move. Not the Michael we all once knew. I think it was the way he got out of the car all pissed off... Cant remeber the last time we saw that.

    Sato 2005.

This is the first time we saw MS 'lost it' since his comeback. Good. I hope he goes all out from now on. We need the old, ruthless MS back.

Dear Schumi, stop saving extra sets of tyres, use them to qualify as high as possible, so that you can avoid people like Senna and Petrov during the race.

I am still glad he is out there fighting...HARD. F1 is not a sport for coasters, either bring it all or leave. He has proven he can still improve even at his age and experience level. Imagine trying to get a 40 something from ANY motorsport to start over as an F1 driver. It would be impossible if not for his previous F1 years.
