I agree with you 100%. I know the cars will sell for more than msrp. But I also know Lee, know he's driven most of his cars to the dealer at some point, and they sales people know what he has. So their doubling of the car just for him is absurd and greedy. But not surprising.
They just fall into the unethical portion.

I have a very different opinion. I have purchased over 250 cars, and the only time I ever paid MSRP was for the few Ferrari's I owned. I would NEVER ever pay over MSRP for any car. In my experience the cars that dealers ask over MSRP in many cases are selling for far less than MSRP very quickly. To the dealers who do this I have two words and they are not Happy Birthday!

I am SOOOO glad I was able to get my Laguna Seca for sticker...

So many dealers were asking stupid markups, and after some research, was able to find mine from a dealer that got in ten, yes ten 2012 Boss 302's, 9 regular and one LS, mine.

Morrie your post is the newest thought I have heard in a long time. I never thought of that reason but it is very possible it happens that way sometimes :)

    Fascinating!

    Thank you for posting

I agree. Especially for a car that Ford has a history of producing plenty of. They make as many as they can sell. My 97 Cobra was one of 6800. Hardly rare production numbers. It's just what I call a stupid tax for people paying more than MSRP for a car that if they wait six to ten months they can get for under MSRP. Its just the "I have to have it first" tax. I remember my local Ford dealer when the redesigned GT came out in 2005. They were asking $5k dealer fee. I laughed and told them I would never buy from a dealer that does that to people when the car will be on rebates in six months. Guess what, I was right.

Really love the sound of that car. 3.5 to sixty is incredible for a stock "muscle" car.

Demand for this car will be high and Ford would be stupid not to crank out as many (or more) than the market will bear. Wait six months and buy one for MSRP.

If you have already bought a GT and GT500 from them, ask to speak to the manager and let him know that you are willing to pay X amount over list. Period. If they don't like it, let him know not only will you NEVER buy another car from them, you will dissuade everyone that stops to talk to you in the GT from ever coming there either. And they know with a car like the Ford GT, people will stop to talk to you all the time.

It is just the golden rule. You have the gold, you make the rules.

The dealership will make a good chunk in profit margin even selling the car for MSRP. Every penny extra you pay is 100% profit for them. So pay extra if you just have to be the first to have one.

Invoice on the car is $50K and some change.

There are many folks buying at MSRP, and even some getting under.

Just an FYI, Evolution Performance has their 2013 at the track right now. 2nd run was 10.02 @ 141. Stock supercharger and no nitrous.

This dealer would never see me again, but Ford headquarters would receive a short message about the incident.

Sorry... but no domestic OE vehicle that is still being produced is worth over sticker. Good luck.

Here in Omaha NE the sticker prices for the GT500 is or around $60,000, to $64,000, Not saying your a liar but I have a hard time believing that the quoted you $120,000 for a $60,000-$70,000 car.

That why I posted this thread it is surprising and diffiult to believe. Even more surprising since I have bought 2 cars from them that I still own.

I am not sure why except this car in the early stages will be easy to sell. Also I purchased the two other cars from the service manager not salesman. Mainly because we were freinds and I knew and had a deep respect for the service mechanics who I got to know and like.

also I should add it came to a head with the three salesman standing out front one day. I will leave it as words were said and they were not nice. Also I own alot of cars and that bothers some people. The dealership has been good.

The other local dealership offered the 650 hp car for $25k over list. It is true and as I stated.

Parker I have contacted them as you suggested. That dealership has always been good.

I have decided ro focus on the new Vette depending on how updated the exterior design is.

I will stay with my current shelby mustang for at least a year. Then I can decide between the new Viper or Mustang.

As someone suggested I did walk out at the time

    Regards,
