I got so preocupied with figuring out the check engine lights, I forgot to post pics from the trip I took weekend before last with my brother and his 06 Lotus Elise.

This trip marked the most I drove the car at one time (140 miles one way from Colorado Springs to Loveland Co where my brother lives), and nearly 500 miles total, as well as the highest elevation I believe the car has ever gone.

First of all, I had to deal with Denver traffic, which was not all that bad for the time of day, but I did notice a lot of people crowd me, and hang out in the blind spot. I also notice a good number of photos being taken. My impression of highway driving, was how impressed I was at how smooth it handled and how comfortable I was in traffic. I also got 27.69mpg, which is the best I have gotten.
That evening was the first time we have had our new sports cars together. We took our topless cars on some nice back roads past Horse-tooth Reservoir, through Ft. Collins, stopping at a diner for dinner...perfect weather not too cool, not too hot.

Next morning we got up early and started a drive I had been looking forward to all winter, the ~80 mile drive to Grand Lake Co, that first wove through the Thompson Canyon to Estes Park, then into Rockey Mtn. Nat. Park over Trail Ridge road, ending up in Grand Lake for lunch, then back to Loveland the same route. I got 21.61mpg on that leg of the trip too.

Alone, these cars get loads of attention, but together people really seemed to enjoy them more.

    Here are the pics:

    Cool pics!
How did the Lotus and Ferrari get along, did one seem to really dominate the other?

Nice! Looks like fun. Sadly, I will never do anything like this because my brother is not a car guy at all. But he's a helluva golfer!

I'm jealous. My brother has a 2007 Corvette and we've always talked about meeting up somewhere and sharing a nice drive as you did. But unfortunately, he resides in Massachusetts and I in Southern California, so it probably will never happen. On the positive side, I always call him and rub it in when I'm enjoying a day out in my F355 in January and he's plowing his driveway.

Heh...they got along fine! However, I am sure if my brother had wanted me to he could have left me in the dust. The Elise is sure set up nicely for such a road, it is such a light car. Additionally, he drives the road weekly during the summer, or when ever the road is open. He knows it way better than I do.

Trail Ridge Road Part 2. Did TRR again this year with my brother, his girlfriend, and my 6 year old niece who rode with me. Lots of turn, loads of altitude, various speeds, sunny, rain, and snow. Only one pit stop for the Ferrari @ Mountain Importsin Estes Park to tighten my oil drain bolt...totally my mistake. Great guys in that shop if you are ever in the area and in need. They moved off a car from the lift so I could get mine in, and out fast.

My wife and I took a drive up through Estes Park and into the national park a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, we did it in a rental car and not my F355. Colorado has to be one of the most spectacular places on earth. It was all I could do to pry the real estate brochures out of my wife's hands when we left. Incredible pictures FW, thanks for sharing. I won't be showing them to the wife however...
