I was watching an episode of the "Rockford Files" last night and, in one scene, there is a woman working under a "GTO". I didn't remember seeing that when the series was in first run but it was interesting to see at least, the nose of the car. Could have been a replica or maybe the real deal, anyone know?

Rockford Files of the 70's? No replicas existed at that time.

    That's 3987 - ex-Krasnavian GTO, easily identified by its non-standard nose.

    Best wishes, Kare

Has RL kept the "nonstandard" nose through the restoration?

No, he made it as generic as ever a GTO was. :)

    This is a 'Rockford' still...

Stephen Mitchell has been working on a documentary about 3987 for years. I'd be interested about the engine because the original one blew out and as reportedly replaced with a 275 LM. These days, Ralph Lauren won't let the car out very often.

its THAT 250 GTO? I've seen it in person then at the boston art museum in 05'

damn thing looked like all he does is stare at it and polish it, honestly I wasnt that impressed with it, probably wouldnt have felt that way if I had seen it driving around and hear it thought.

    * A trustworthy, knowledgeable, inside source stated that RL's archivist said 3987 original engine was restored to 3987 before RL purchased it....

Great to see that image of James Garner with the 250 GTO. Not surprising though as there was lots of Ferrari 'interest' in Hollywood. John Frankenheimer certainly enjoyed his Ferrari automobiles and years earlier made the 1966 movie 'Grand Prix' with James Garner. Another James - James Coburn also like Ferrari...
