Be forewarned here -- even though the VIN (ZFFUA13A1E0052769) decodes as a 1984 US 308QV, the engine is from a 1983 US 308QV:

    1) Note the exhaust cam spud sticking out the clutch end of the engine and the bracketry on the 1-4 bank for the (belt-driven) air injection pump -- a 1984 US 308QV uses the "pulse" (no air pump) air injection system, and

    2) the Bosch CIS injection system on this engine is K-Jet without Lambda (a 1984 US 308QV would be K-Jet with Lambda).

    Adjust price accordingly ;)

20 year-old tires? Amazed they still hold air ... LoL. Another price adjustment.

That pic of the VIN is so blurry I can't even read it.
Do you think it's an engine swap, or wrong vin in the listing?

I am hoping with 100% feedback that the seller is not a scammer of some sort...just misinformed?

The VIN stamped on the frame is clear enough (although those aren't unalterable either ;)):

My guess would be engine swap.

It does seem that the Seller knows something isn't quite right -- a sub-30K mile '84-'85 US 308 would/should be a bit more ;)...

Glad the experts noticed the problems, my interest was even peaked...well maybe a little.
The serial number is very close to my 1985, 52973

The engine swap makes sense to me - why else would an otherwise "like new" car have all the red crinkle paint missing off of the intake plenum???

    Just my 2 lira....

I totally hear ya, but as another data point re: tires - a couple of years ago, I replaced tires on a car which I had installed in 1988. They held air and drove just fine - I just didn't trust them anymore. Not saying these shouldn't be replaced, however.....

    FWIW.

I have 2 classic Studebakers in my garage that have New Old Stock 1964 Goodyear tires on them.

You would never want to drive on them except to and from the trailers. They are not showing any signs of dryrot, but tires and even the little rubber tits are hard rubber.

Even if you dared to drive some place on them......both sets are nylon cord and the flat spots on them would shake the car apart before they warmed up and got round.

No "matching" numbers on the non-vintage F models. The engines are marked with the "engine family" for that model and an "engine serial number" for that family. For a 1984 US 308 QV, the engine family is F105E040 as shown in this example photo (and the engine serial number for this example is 00278):

For a 1983 US 308QV, the engine family is F105A040 (or F105 040). I don't have an example photo of that engine family marking, but the other physical characteristics discussed previously show that the engine in this car is F105A040 (or F105 040). If someone does have a photo of this F105A040/F105 040 engine family making, please post it.

The biggest clue is that the FD is aluminum, not iron.

The material/color of the FD body, as David mentioned, and:

Components that the car for sale doesn't have that a 1984 K-Jet with Lambda should have = frequency valve, pulsation damper, and throttle microswitch

Components on the car for sale that should not be present on a 1984 K-Jet with Lambda = vacuum limiting valve and cold start air valve

Here's a picture of the engine in question (since the ebay ad will eventually disapper):

This is what a 1984-85 US 308QV engine should look like:
