yep, my reply took 4 days, and the person reading it did not fully read my question. Had to ask beckerautosound again. I went out of my way to order the keys from another supplier.

I guess the Ricambi Originali one is out of stock (listed at $0), or I would have gone with a known and trusted supplier.

I've just installed the Becker iPod cable on my Becker BE6105 head unit. Connected devices play ok but I can hear digital interference (squeeking and chirping) when using either an iPod Classic or iPhone 4. The iPod Classic is the worst as you can hear the iPod hard drive electronics through the car speakers!

I'll be contacting BeckerAutosound about this as the cable cost $139. Just wondered if anyone else is suffering similar problems?

I installed a similar cable on my Blaupunkt. It may even have been the same one, as I think the connector and pin outs are the same on the backplanes of that unit and the OEM Becker.

Be advised that not all iPods are equal. There was a change at some point in the pin outs for the multipin connector (the one that plugs into the iPod). 3rd generation Nanos and earlier iPods work. I can't get my iPod Touch or iPhone to work with it, however.

Just a follow up to my previous comments about delayed shipping.

My cable turned up today so it was shipped some time ago however their communications is less than perfect, my original email question was not answered appropriately and I received no communications about my order.

However, it's just a cable and now I have it I won't need them again. I'm off to install.....

    All done, sound is great.

It took me 1.5 minutes to remove the head unit, disconnect the CDC cable and connect the iPod cable. Then remounted head unit and set the AUX input to ON.

I then spent the next 10 minutes contorting my body to get under the dash and route the cable to the glove box.

I had planned to run it along the tunnel however since the standard cable length reaches the driver's seat I would rather keep the iPod install discreet.

finally got around to installing the cable from beckerautosound. I got the keys from a random ebay supplier, and this is where I perhaps went wrong. I inserted them all the way, same orientation as the pic from the OP. Radio pulled out nice and smooth, as did the connectors. I put the whole works back in.....but the metal extraction keys would NOT separate from the unit. No amount of wiggling or tugging would free them. I even noticed that the plastic radio surround was bending, so I put away the pliers. This is where I spotted a spring-loaded metal clip in the gap between the plastic and the chassis of the radio. Pushing that clip back with a flat blade, while pulling on the key.... finally freed the darned thing.

My 1st gen rotary wheel ipod works, as does my new iphone 4s. I get some noise from the old unit's internals during quiet moments, ruling out Chopin, and some static while the iphone4s is on pause.
Overall...very workable, since my audiophile days are over. I routed my cable under the dash, and through the gap in the bottom door opening of the glovebox. Covert is always better, since the car alone attracts enough attention.

Which iPod is everyone using? I've installed the connector and it's working, but not with the new iPod Nano I just bought. It works with my iPhone 4. Any of you using a nano with it? It would be perfect to install into the ash tray area because of it's size...

I used Becker's standard connector that just has RCA's. From there, I connect an RCA to headphone jack cord, and plug in that way. I imagine that way will always work no matter how ipods change. I have pioneer in my truck, and already am having compatability issues with the ipod cable and updating. Doesn't charge though.

I've got a 5th Gen Classic. I also tend to hear interference from the hard drive at times. Not too big a deal overall. I routed the cable out under the hi-fi amp and along the passenger side of the central tunnel. Then I cut out a properly sized piece of that material used as carpet backing and placed it in the little tray behind the fuel and trunk release switches. The iPod fits great there and doesn't slide around.

Thanks for posting, but the page also says:

"1. Operation/Control of the iPod unit is not possible from the radio. "

so you may as well go for the much cheaper phono/jack connectivity

    I think most owners (like me) wanting this upgrade also want to be able to select tracks through their header unit rather then touching the iPod (which is more dangerous when driving);

My response was based on the complaint many had about their adapter not charging certain iPods (i.e. Nano 4G, touch, iphone) and may not be the solution for your particular need. I have read of an option available from a vendor in Germany which controls the iPod using the radio buttons.
The ip-bkr2 (and others) was highly recommended by fellow Porsche owner with Becker radio similar to the radio in Ferrari, BMW, Land Rover etc. It resolves the charging issue which is what was being discussed.

My message exchange with becker autosound suggests that their ebay cable is just audio/charging with no remote control function through the head unit:

That's a shame and certainly not worth the price they are charging for a bit of cable - not sure what's in the box.

Are there any options which replace the CD port with full track control on the external playe/media

    I've seen this one http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.php?productid=94

but it doesn't list my model so I suspect the earlier head units are a different protocol

Hi folks... Some people noted that routing the cable from the back of the radio under the carpet and then back up under the console was no sweat. Can someone give some details/pictures on this?

Getting the console out seems like no problem, and I will just pull up the cable through a convenient location - like the ash tray... but how is the cable ideally routed from behind the radio and then down under the tunnel carpet?

    Thanks!
