Sorry if this has been covered before but does anyone know about the specification changes/upgrades on the 1012 model year 458 andiof there are any others propsoed for 2013. My car is a October this year build so will be a 2013 car.

Below is a quote from a salesman in one of the UK dealerships but first i have heard of this.

"Yes the MY12 cars get an upgrade for free (it costs about £6,500 for older 458's without it) consisting of changes to the ECU and settings for the Manettino and gearbox"

Any info or views welcome. Was wondering if ferrari would react to the Mclaren upgrades for the 2013 model year !!

There are no known changes to 2013 models -- at least any announced.

The biggest change is to the gearbox software which gives it a better shifting feeling, along with better handling in Race mode.

The F upgrades to the 458 were announced before the Mac upgrades. So, it's more like Mac responding to Ferrari.

Another scottish owner here. Mine is jan 2012 and has the mods. Noticeable change in shifting in race mode even at low speeds (up only). Not sure I would pay the extra to upgrade though but it might be for more experienced drivers who use the track.

What colour you going for? Mines is titanio/ Nero. I see you have a scud so I am sure you know the good roads up north.

I am not running a front plate and have 3300 miles with no bother from the law so keep the looks - and the plate on stickies in the trunk so you can claim it fell off! No points if you do get done, just a £60 fine. Immune from the front facing average speed cameras as well which is handy.

Hoping to get a non Scottish dealers demo spider around October myself.

    Cheers

thanks for the info very helpful.
Scud gone and running a GT3RS and V12 vantage till 458 comes in October . Going for Nero daytona with nero and grigio scuro headliner and carpets etc. I do fancy one of the Grgio colours though and have time to change. Do you have any pics of your Grigio Titanio car and was that colour an extra in the Uk ?

I'm also curious about MY13 changes. That's why I choose to have sept. built Italia instead of July built.
I do hope to see some upgrades since Mclaren has improved their cars twice (first the improvements they made after their defeat in Magazine tests and they just raised the horsepower of the car) and the new 458 scuderia version is just around the corner.

The Italia is already a fabolous car, though.Well, we'll see.

    Nice collection.

No cost for titanio or silverstone and a couple of the other grgio shades. I had a silverstone and sabia California and the spider ex demo I hopefully have first shout on is currently specc'd the same (may be changing).

I spent a long time looking at colours and am happy with titanio, different in different lights and the colour really shows the lines on the car. if you can visit the factory and or ateliar you will see a great selection.

Here are some of mine. I have red centres and calipers but there are some great shots on this board of a car with yellow calipers and centres.

The Grigio titanio looks great and I am very tempted . I have ordered the Grigio Ferro wheels which I think would go great with it also. You are not down in edinburgh any tme soon in the Itlalia so I could see in the flesh ? Are you Aberdeen based ?

    cheers

I live mainly in Ireland but am from Scotland and keep my car there - over £120k in import duty to register it in Ireland so decided against it! It lives in storage near glasgow but I usually go through edinburgh to visit my parents in the borders

I will be over in a few weeks to drop the car after the belfast dealer does a few bits and pieces (had it here for the last month) so will give you a shout and am happy to meet up so you can have a look. Hope thats not to late before you finalise your spec.

I take it you are buying from Garypaul and you did not fancy the triple layer red listing at £260k they had in last time I was there!

I meant to say there is a link to the ferrai blurb re the upgrades on this forum somewhere, quick search should find it. Maybe in the thread re the 12c upgrade, not sure.

    cheers

Many thanks , would love to see the car in the flesh always diifcult off photos or the configurator. I know Grigio Silverstone well , had afew of those and I know Nero Daytona well but not titanio.

Let me know when you are passing nearby edinburgh more than happy to come to you as would be keen to your car. My GT3RS is in the grey/black which is very similar to Grigio medio but suits the more industrial look of the porche not so sure on the higher tech Ferrari.

    much appreciated.
