    Anyone got suggestions for a nice looking, understated watch for a causal dress suit?

    I don't want to spend more than the mentioned price because I don't wear suits that often.

    Yeah, I've held Timex' before, they just seem very cheap and too lightweight :)

    I like them with a little weight :)

    Maybe a used Nomos.

    I googled the Tissot. I love the design, and it's well within my budget.

    I really like my Seiko 5 for that purpose. And it's less than $500.

    I have a Seiko 5 for which I paid 60€ or so (there's a thread somewhere here). Great watch, and you can't go wrong at that price!

    Thanks, a lot of great replies/suggestions here!

    I browsed Tissot Heritage Visodate suggested by dsg and found these pictures - I love the small retro cues (plus it's see through backside and type of buckle) and it seems to go well with a suit - and I think I have found my next watch purchase!

    It's kind of a dark blue suit (like the one in the pictures), and I don't know if I should go with brown or black strap, or white or black dial... Hmmm...

    Oris Classic Date watch line is solid and is in the price range you are looking at.....Ball watches are a little more $ but you can't go wrong with them either...Tissot always a solid watch for the $. Let us know what you end up with....

    Just 2 things I'd note: the Timex I referenced weighs 10.56 ounces - that's pretty darn weighty.

    Also, you liked the see-through back of the Tissot - while the Timex is also see through.

    Here's a video I found. Other than the date bubble, it doesn't look like too bad of a watch.

    The Tissot looks fantastic, and I LOVE the picture with the Edsel note, awesome! I found another forum where someone ordered his with a black face and black date - custom orders like that seem to be possible, and it looks fantastic on his pictures!

    I would get the white face with silver hands/markers and get both bands. Two watches in one!

    Thanks for the link, looks great.

    I agree, didn't think of that. It kind of changes personality of the watch, so why not have both.

    I think I have made up my mind :) My dress will be delivered in 3 weeks, then I will buy shirt, belt and shoes, and then order this watch. Will check out if the local Tissot dealer can get it (likely).

    Will update this thread with pictures once I get it some weeks from now! :)
