Seriously clean, seriously efficient -- even by Bavarian standards.

For the guy in the hotel with no speed channel, they are streaming the race live on speed.com. I'm watching it now while the TV channel is on Nascar.

I hope the streaming will continue even after the TV comes back on at 2:30 ET but I'm not sure.

Also, the Audi e-trons are storing recovered energy in an inertia wheel (KERS). Toyota is charging and discharging capacitors. The latter supposedly saves some weight and reduces net heat by eliminating the Li-ion batteries.

right you are ...the downside of capacitors is that they discharge all at once, unlike the batteries which draw on demand/use ...so the toyotas get it all in one wallop! ye-ha! :)

Amazing crash! Glad both drivers appear ok, but sad for the teams.

    Thanks!

Unbelievable accident. #81 stated he couldn't see Davidson. Broad daylight, end of the Mulsanne.

Time to worry if there are others with similar capabilities out there, night is approaching.

additional comments are that he said he saw the toyota approaching, but failed to get out of the line, and failed to realize the rate of speed overtaking IMO ....very fortunately no one was hurt

Seriously worrying. Perhaps they need to review the driving qualifications required to participate in this race. When basic driver skill errors put lives at risk something isn't right.

Such a shame about the Toyota's. It was looking like a good race.

Can't root for Audi, it's fuelled by the Beelzebub's doings.

That sucked the big one. Concerning the Toyota accident thank God both cars were already braking and not at full speed.

DeltaWing driver, Satoshi Motoyama, tries in vain to get the car restarted and back to the garage for repairs.

Such a shame to have their pioneering efforts end this way. :(

I don't think the deltawings fare very well in wheel to wheel combat and wouldn't do very well in a massive shunt either. Both are realities of racing.

    Back to green...

I know no one is rooting for Audi, but I'd like to see Capello win. He's been in the sport for as long as I've followed road racing.

Audi lap times seem to be down by between four and six seconds . . .
