Forza magazine article - 288 GTO

I'd love to see a copy of it!

A client generously allowed his 288 GTO to be driven properly for the piece.

 

I'll hopefully be reading this article later tonight. I received the Forza issue last week, but I've yet to get a moment to read it.

 

That is quite generous since Forza killed a 288 GTO a few years back. . .

 

Was it a case of "Use the Forza Luke"?

He did not simply hand over the keys, he was in the car whilst it was being tested, and I think that is a prudent move because it has a way of keeping things sensible.

I should have brought it in today and scanned it here at the office! Nice mention of Joe in the article. I need to go back and check to see if the owner is in the passenger seat in the photos

 

Perhaps not in the photos, but during the driving sessions he was there, rest assured! The article is entitled: "The Real Deal" - and is headlined: "The 288 GTO may be more than 25 years old, but it still delivers the goods."

Andrew you'll be interested to know that this FORZA story was borne out of the the fact that the previous owner of your new 288 GTO 58137 allowed them to photograph it (as shown below) but would not let them road test it!! "Impossible" was the answer. There you have it, the behind-the-scenes story...

What you see is what I have - 58137 immortalized on the road.

But, if you contact FORZA I am certain someone has a whole set of high-res images of the car on the road that day.

FWIW this is the ex-Bob Garrettson 288 GTO, Classiche Certified and multiple Cavallino Classic award winner. So too it has featured on the cover of a number of magazine articles for Hemmings.

 

Finally got around to reading it over the weekend. It wasn't really what I was expecting, but then again I'm not really sure what I was expecting

I enjoyed the history about how the 288 GTO came to be because of Group B racing.

Also, the article stated that there's about 25 - 30 288 GTOs in the US. Are those numbers accurate?

 

I supplied those numbers to FORZA magazine for the peice and I think they are a good estimate.
