Is it my imagination, but looking at the pics of the test mule, I can see a lot of this design winner peeking through the camo.

Of course, the extreme narrow cabin would probably become wider and more user friendly. But the front bumper could easily use the design winners shape. And the ducting on the front hood would also work well. The sides of the test mule could also be concealing the same side design of the contest winning design, but again slightly less extreme.

The rear end of the test mule looks very close to the overall shape and taillight of the contest winning design.

In any event, the new car is going to be a very pleasing design, even if it doesn't use this design. Why? Because if Ferrari chose something different, it must be very close to this already nice design, but even better!

Sorry guys, but the only one that has an oportunity of becoming a future Ferrari is the Xezri. The design of the F80 or the F90 could be similar. But the winner looks like something that can be in production at least in 2050, for that reason is the winner.

there have been a few ferrari concepts for potential use in the design, i posted up before here
    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141482007&postcount=407
..but none of them show a truly innovative front ed design like we hear about

IMO chances are a through body aero design, more like lemans P1/P2 cars utilize, which could explain that we are seeing a "false nose" on the pictures of test mule

if you look closely at the pictures again, you can see the side pods are very strange, and imagine the front nose as being removed and a completely different (more complex) one in it's place

with front like that car would be looked extremely well but there will be no space for front radiator http://www.autopartslib.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Enzo-Ferrari-Cooling-System-Radiator-Parts-Diagram_thumb.png

This would be a little strange given pedestrian safety concerns. I'm not sure if supercars have to conform to certain standards, but one of the reasons today's supercars are taller and fatter than those of yesteryear is particularly due to crumple zones and pedestrian safety concens. I know they need to pass crash tests, and that carbon monocoques (i can never spell this) are incredibly strong and all of that, but I think there's a distinct reason why LMP-type through body aero hasn't widely been adopted in hypercars.

I'm probably totally wrong here, but it's something to think about...

Maybe it depends on how many cars produced? If maybe the number is low, say 500, they might be exempt of certain rules? I'm just guessing, based on cars like the Arial Atom and some other open body type low production cars.

Ferrari does have to adhere to various international laws for impact pprotection and crash worthiness, new pedestrian safety laws, when they go into effect

look at the enzo, a tri-nosed design can be engineered for both, including housing cooling apparatus, this is all completely do-able

I see this car being more of a successor to the Enzo. If Enzo's successor were to look like that I think I'd go out and rob a few banks to get on the wish list when someone flips their car. Wow that is absolutely stunning & beautiful from all angles.

I hope that Ferrari does have a "successor" to the 80s TR. The TR is the car that made me the Ferrari nut I am today.

“This project must be the source of the highest level of technology characterizing a unique car, which is absolutely innovative and represents the quintessence of Ferrari past and present and looks to the Ferrari of the future. Lightweight, simple and striking with a distinctive engine and special futuristic design: every last detail of the Ferrari Xezri exudes uncomprising sportiness as a direct result of its links to the concept: “Xezri”. Xezri designed for owner for whom the priority is on uncompromising on-road performance occasional track day capability, but who still demand a car that is useable in day-to-day driving like all Ferrari’s models.”
