From what I remember with my conversation with Steve, the stock 348 gearbox can not handle all the torque. It blows up one of the gears. But the 355 gearboxes seems to be able to handle all the torque.
Thanks for posting Ernie, though this has somewhat bust my bubble, as I have been quite smug about how my 348 stacks up against 355's and 360's, but this car is INSANE!! Geat job Steve....awesome car.
Without doubt a 348c SuperCar....Bring it to Road America and the national meet please. Ferrari Club of America 2013 International Meet. I want to see it hit 180 going up the hill on the front straight passing all the other Challenge cars! This will be the 50th, and there will always only be one 50th.
F-ing awesome! This thing is my inspiration as well as a previous turbo 348 from SD. I wonder how they get through smog in this state...
Could Steve Maxwell comment on whether building the car into a center single seat and the shifter off to the right abut the middle of where the passenger seat is now, would that be much of an issue? I have this insane dream of building a Ferrari into a center single seat racer. I have never tried to move a shifter
You probably already thought of this and love shifting but Get the f1 and then you have the best of both? I love the idea, always loved the Maclaren.
Think that'd be personal preference rather than definitely having the "best of both". I'd stick with the gated shifter, no contest. Seriously mourn the fact that it's looking like the Cali is the last Fcar to have had a regular gearbox as an option rather than flappy paddles. Ferrari's open gated shift is (or rather "was" )iconic, IMO.

This has got to be The Ultimate 348, Death Star Edition. I'm blown away by the craftsmanship. That console alone is a work of art. One has to wonder, for the price of entry, what could have been purchased instead... used McLaren with a side order of Miata when you want to actually shift gears? Previously owned 458? Ford GT in the cool Gulf livery? A room full of Cobra replicas? Basket-case Dino? Certainly not the fun, challenge, and satisfaction of doing your own custom hyper-car, but... just thinking out loud.
I was just watching a video of this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KajL7klumA AMAZING.... 0-60 2.8 seconds...holy crap..
Another video (latest) is out concerning this car: For those interested, the car will be competing in the new Banging Gears show that begins this Summer on Amazon Prime Video: https://banginggears.com/ Filming for the first show will take place early next month in Las Vegas.
