I don't know why stuff keeps happening but I was using my car today and I got a gear box warning light. I was reversing and had to gomto neutral before going to first. Prior to tne warning light going off the diagnostic check has been acting a bit erratic. Any way, now when I turn tne car on it starts out fine but it starts to default to reverse and the warning goes off. Once I start driving it drives fine but the warning was on. I just emailed my dealer. Has this happened to anyone? Is it the computer? It the box failing? I am hoping that letting it sit overnightnwill help cure it but I have a gut feeling it will be more than that. Any advice would be really appreciated.

I can't believe I got through last summer with no issues at all and now they just keep coming. 3700 is all I have done on it since I only really drive during the summer. VERY frustrating. Thanks again.....

Sorry about your problems. I have been following your posts and feel your frustration. This particular problem is something a didn't experience but I feel was predicted ( see the post about SLS vs Ferrari). I think your dealer may offer a quick fix. But take it in.

It probably won't help, but mine has an electrical problem with the check system that is fixed after I disconnect the battery rerminal for a minuite and reconnect

It's a very easy "flip" terminal, you don't need any tools, and it's a 1/10 in difficulty

It's worth a try before a trip to the dealer

Who says he needs a new gearbox? A little pre-mature, don't you think?

I was making a point in relation to your opinion on risk versus reward of a warranty in the other thread

I made no comment in relation to what the problem with THiS car is

I went to use my car this morning and the reverse button felt like it was stuck so I played with it before I started my car. The button felt normal and the diagnostic went off without any failure lights. Car seems to be running ok now. I will use itntoday and see if the light goes off. It seems that the stuck button maye have been the reason I had to go to neutral before 1st. Doesn't seem like any damage as done. I have been in contact with my dealer awaiting response but hopefully that is all it was and the co,putter compensated for it.

Concern for this happening again (my DCT was replaced once.) is why I just traded My 2010 Cali. I am waiting for a 2013 to be delivered in Dec or so. Was your car a early one? i think from all i have read they had the most problems with the DCT.

A warning light by itself may be nothing more than a software glitch.

If your transmission is mis behaving then that is a more serious issue.

We've had problems with the gearbox of our California as well a few months ago. if serious they will just change it without charge like they did for us. it does however take some time because people from the actual gearbox manufacturer have to be involved in the process.

Car is driving fine now...still having the roof issues but I guess the issues are what comes with owning something bespoke as opposed to mass produced.
