Will be in in Maui, would like suggestions for creative, fresh food. From Asian to typical American. Open to all from $$ to $$$$. Tia Ed Ps staying in kaanapali
Depending on how often you visit the islands.... 1) Mama's fish house (a classic- but a little touristy) 2) Piai fish market (casual amazing food) 3) Ferraro's Italian at 4 seasons 4) Sushi Bar at the Ritz
Longhi's; there is a location in Lahaina Town and in Weileia in the south. Food is excellent in both locations, but ambiance and views are much better at the Lahaina location. Also in Weileia, visit the Grand Weileia resort / hotel. They have a restaurant named after the Hawaiian state fish - Humuhumunukunuku ...this place ROCKS!!! This place is a little drive from where you are staying, but worth it. The south of the island has a different charm.
Great post. We're staying in Wailea for 10 days in September. We did 2 weeks split between Oahu and Kauai last year. If you do Oahu right, it really is nice. We had a house on the beach up by the Robin Masters Estate. Not in Honolulu. I'm interested in authentic Hawaiian food. In Honolulu we ate the James Beard award winning Helena's. It's not fancy, but it was fantastic. Hopefully there is something like it on Maui. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
My wife and I honeymooned at the Grand Wailea - Humu and the other restaurants there are quite good. Back then, there were some other places that I don't think are around - Raffles was one. Swan Court was another - that's in the Hyatt Kaanapali - I think it's now called Sonz...
The sunset is great there as well. And you can feed the fish in the Lagoon. Touristy and lots of kids. At least try it once at sunset. We like Wolfgang Puck's Spagos at 4 Seasons. The whole deep fried fish for 2 is to die for. Beverly Gannon's "Gannon's" at the Gold and Emerald Golf Course club house. Great sunset views Wailea. Really creative and delicious food.
If you're in Wailea, drive 5 minutes up the road to Kihei and get the fish tacos at Coconuts Fish Cafe. They are AWESOME!!! It's a small walk-in shop in a strip mall. It's so good I talked to the owner about franchising and was too late. She's already working with someone about expansion onto the mainland.
Can't beat Mama's. Had dinner there yesterday. If you make an early reservation---like 4:30 they place is not a zoo and the service is as spectacular as the food. We were there until 7 and it was great. Up from Paia is Haille Maille(?) General Store. Looks like an old general store because it probably was. Food is fantastic. In Lahaina, the best is Lahaina Grill. Great food but no view. It is expensive, like Mama's, but very good and consistent.
Try pineapple grill and go for breakfast to plantation house. Both are great, but chef at pineapple grill is a magician...
