They are in the process of testing the Ford GT down here in Birmingham, Al., at the new Barber track. It was too cold in Michigan, so they came down south. They are working on some final tweaking, before beginning production next year. Great looking car.

Great looking pics! I'm kinda getting tired of Ford feeling like they have to fall back on the retro look, but the GT40's styling was ahead of it's time and lends very well to a modern supercar. I can't wait to see how the finalized car turns out.

Did the yellow car behind it have a very short wheelbase? It almost looks like it could be a Cheetah & would make sense with the Chevy badge on it (even though it technically wasn't a Chevy car per-se), but it's too hard to tell from the pics. Or am I reading your post wrong and did you mean Shelby & not "sheby"? :) It doesn't quite appear to be a Series 1 although it might be a Daytona Coupe replica.

Looks good. I cannot wait to see on in the flesh and see what it can do from a performance stand point. Good spy photo work, thanks for sharing.

They are not really spy photos... The official look was finalized last year.

well, unless someone is stealing manufacturer plates, there's no real reason why that can't be a 2005 Ford GT. they're all prototypes still, as production has yet to begin.

production starts in 3-4 months, as a 2005 MY car. the first units are slated to hit the dealers in late july / early august.

It's certainly a Ford. Notice the duct tape holding in the left taillight...

i think the tape is to cover a dealer name. the car has to be in inventory " somewhere" for tax and insurance. i believe they are required to have a dealer name or decal on them to be counted in inventory. i may be all wrong and they are testing the "emergency duct tape repair device" that comes with all the fords. ( LOL )

I am not so sure about that. The manufac plate is similar to the old "Prova" plates found in Italy. Its a prototype, and therefore needs no dealer as a place of origin. Although I could be wrong :D

no dealer has a car yet. the only cars are the proving/prototype cars that ford owns. in fact, the car still isn't finalized, so there's nothing to build for a dealer. the factory could have loaned a prototype car to a particularly well-loved dealer/owner but that'd be about it.

You could'nt fit a dealer name there if you wanted too. Look above the right tailight. No room.
So how much is the "Trailer package"!?

Ford takes the "mule" concept a little too literally...
