Heater Hose Tee Connector

    Had a hard time finding a metal replacement for my old tee connector (right).
    Walked into Home Depot and found a match (left).
    The difference is obvious: the ridges.

    I probably won't get a definitive answers.
    A slew of educated guesses would be great.

    Would the ridges create more opportunity for seepage or would they allow the rubber to hug the tee connector more after a solid clamping?

    Any input is appreciated!

    Agreed, should work fine. The ridges on the new 'T' seem to be nicely rounded so there should be little likelihood of the rubber getting cut. With a clamp should seal nicely for a long, long time.

    Please tell us what your new "T" fitting is from. How do we find it at Home Depot?

    Looks like a PEX connector, which likely means the OD will be a bit larger than the stock tee.

    In the plumbing section at Home Depot.
    The manufacturer is Shark Bite (www.sharkbite.com).
    It's a 1/2" x 1/2" x 3/4" reducing tee.

    The 3/4" bit is 1/8" larger than the 5/8" hose you will use, but the hose fits on it just fine.

    It is a PEX connector. The ridges are not traditional slip fit hose ridges but ring compression ridges. I think a better connector would be to by a tee and the correct slip fit hose ends. I personally would not use the PEX fitting due to the flat ridges.
