I use it too, it's kind of an ON or OFF type deal. There is no middle ground in fan speed, but yea I use it. Does not affect performance or overheat my car at all

I use mine too. TestLA is right, on or off. You should keep it above 75% otherwise you overload the power transistor.

Fan on full bore and run the thing at least once a month year round for at least 10 min or so just to keep the seals sealing.

Thx guys for the feedback, I've had my TR for 4 years now and never used my A/C but now we are having a heatwave in NY so I'll give it a shot.

If all you have is on/off then you have a bad resistor. I use mine often and fan spped is fully adjustable.

If you have not used it in four years, I suspect you will be giving it a shot of Freon.

    +1.

It works really well too. It cools the cabin wonderfully on the hottest summer days.

Yes, I run mine often and keeps the cabin quite cool, which is more than some of the previous Ferraris have done for me.

The A/C condenser is under the front left corner of your car and has an electric fan on it, totally isolated from the engine bay. It will do nothing towards making your TR run hotter.

I run mine full blast every time I drive.

It works more efficiently when you are moving because more air is forced through the condenser than when just using the fan.

Can't find a part number on Ricambi. Can you direct me on what needs to be done to fix this? I found an old thread about a 308 but nothing about a TR

These threads should point you in the right direction. I haven't encountered this problem so no first-hand info to pass beyond whats contained here--sorry.

Yep, I use mine just about every time I drive it.

While the fan speed switch works well, and I do agree that the temperature switch is almost full cold, full hot on mine. I have a very small range of adjustment, or maybe it's the impression it gives me because there is a lag between the new temp set and the actual temp changing. Maybe I over do it every time :)

Different problem, different rheostat--I believe the temp rheostat is located on the temp control unit on the floor console. The fan speed rheostat is behind the dash.

    Ha! :)

I use it more on the highway, when the windows are closed and it's a nice sunny day. But rarely full cold!

Same here, but I like it cold, right in the face.
On long drives it's a lot nicer (and quieter) with the windows closed.

I am curious -- my '87 TR is in the middle of its engine-out major right now, and while my a/c blows very cold, my fan switch was either full-bore on blowing high, or clicked off. I thought there is supposed to be an adjustable fan level, so I asked my mechanic. He tells me it is a bad potentiometer, something common on these cars. So I am buying a new potentiometer -- am I just wasting money and will it be the same, i.e., all the way on or all the way off? I love my mechanic and cannot imagine he would stee me wrong on this.

My understanding from Tim and others its a bad resistor, I have the same problem but have decided for now to leave it be.
