    Foreflight is a great app, but I find myself using it for the flight planning stages only. I still have enroute charts, and paper plates.

    I don't find the iPAD screen working out for me in sunlight.

    I can't believe this, I use paper for preplanning, but haven't bought a single VFR, IFR, or approach plate in a year. that's the best part. I have found iPad hard to view outside in direct sunlight, but never a problem inside the plane.

    The financial part of the transaction is not disclosed. I suspect the article could be titled "Microsoft donates 11,000 Surface pad's and 20,000 Windows phone's to Delta. Delta promises double-miles for any Microsoft employee that flies in the month of November as a thank you."

    It's a good thing each pilot is given one. That halves the likelihood that they won't be available/locked-up during approach.
