Ok so all summer my ac has been crappy, first I recharged it and the schrader valves were leaking. So I replaced the valves and took off the dryer and put it in the oven for 2hours to dry out the desiccant and reinstalled it. I vacuumed it out for 3 hours and than let it sit for 5 days and found no loss of vacuum. So far so good. I know the 348 takes about 2.5 lbs of r12 so I jumped the compressor and began to fill the low side, I installed the correct amount of r12 and the compressor was cycling on and off. Observed the sight glass and did not see any air running past it. The fan was on one step below high, temp set to low and recirculate on. Cleaned out the duct to the condenser and hosed with water as well. Than put my shop vac on blow and directed the air flow over the condenser while idleing. Inside temp at outlite was 80 ,low side was 70-80 and high side was 300 and above. Not cold at idle. Road test on hwy temp at outlite was in the low 40s (nice) but as soon as I was in local stop and go traffic it felt like it was off as outlite temp began to rise again. Car only has 12k miles. I'm stumped any help guys?

Sounds like the fan on the condensor is not working.

Without airflow over condenser at stop will not get cooling.

There's a fan on the condenser ? I had no idea .. is there a relay for it ? What triggers it to come on.

Fan like they said numero uno

If it still wont blow I would replace the receiver dryer. Somewhere along the line someone may have out one of those "leak sealers" in there messing thigns up.

I have put extra fans on condensers, rads etc to aid in severe duty vehicles with great success.

I am not familiar with the 348/355's but it will either trigger the main radiator cooling fans if it is stacked in front of the engine radiators or a separate fan if the radiator is on its own, but there will definitely be a fan triggered as soon as the a/c system is turned on. On my esprit it turned on all three cooling fans

Ok I just checked the fan, hot wired it and it came right on but not with ac on, I looked at the relay and fuse box and did not see anything for the condenser fan. It must have a relay due to the heavy gauge wire. Any ideas which one?

Thanks guys, it was the connector at the fan that was bad, I cleaned the contacts and used some stablent on it. Fan came on with ac, ran for a hour idleing took it for a nice road test and it's like a meat locker in the cabin now. Thanks everyone.
