Aside from the rather condescending tone of the post, it's nonsensical.

Please explain how any of what you're saying could happen to anyone here.

For example, I don't like your post. How am I to find out what car you own or what the plates are? Did you post it? If you did, whose fault is that? Maybe... yours?

Second, let's say someone randomly takes a picture of your car or puts it on Youtube and says "Hey, look at this great car I saw!"

How are we supposed to know it's you or your car? It's just a random car on a random road. There are thousands of Ferrari's and exotics out there. Why would I single out yours at random to find out where you live and do some evil to your car?

You have a better chance of this happening to you.

Im sure there are others that understand that statement. Owning a forum on the internet does have some privacy concerns to be aware of dont you think Mr Mayor? Do you see everyone using there own personal name as a username? Like wise some of us have blanked our plates on pictures of our cars.

Didnt think I deserved a fatherly tone and criticism from you but I understand now the usename you have chosen for yourself.

This type of thinking is quite a stretch.

I understand to a degree. I drive my Ferrari once every week or two, so the exposure to my plate is somewhat limited out in public.

Lets say a thief wanted to get to somebody's house that they thought had a nice car, presumably to steal. They could catch me about the once a month I go to Cars&Coffee or happen to randomly catch me out on the back roads when I take my car for a spin. That'd require a decent amount of planning with some dumb luck thrown in as I don't go to every event and when I drive for fun it's out in the country. Or, they could come on here, look for pictures of cars with plates that were taken in their area and run the plates. Much easier and instantly gratifying than trying to stake out a C&C, car show or other car related event, or sitting out on the street waiting for an exotic to drive by. If somebody was set on stealing a car, they'd go about it either way, but by having your info out there on the net you'd be an easier and much more likely target.

That being said, it's not something I worry about as my car really isn't that high end, but I understand why some would.

Of course, at C&C they can go find a dozen or more cars they know are local to check out and not have to sort through trying to find local pics on the internet. :)

Interesting topic. I tried doing a google images search for "Ferrari Detroit". Before I got bored, I didn't find any pictures of private road cars. Mostly Detroit Auto Show (OK, I recognize I might have needed to pick a different target city) and pictures from the Detroit Grand Prix. Going to "Ferrari Michigan" I found a few snaps that weren't cars for sale. I didn't pursue it far enough to find any license plates, but no doubt you could.

Of course, here in Detroit, they'd just go steal the cars at gunpoint AT cars & coffee.

Why do so many people have to see so many things in absolutes? It's not likely that anything good comes from posting license plates. Is it likely to come to anything? Not often. Of course, all of those laws named after some poor victim DID wind up happening, so once someone does get their house robbed, they get beaten, etc then we can have "Ferrarichat's law" in all 50 states.

Conclusion: It's not a good thing, but not much of a bad thing, either. DONE! :)
