I am always "tinkering" with my 458 and when discussing somethings I am doing or have done, I was surprised to hear that apparently few people appear to modify their 458's, according to the shops I have worked with.

I am curious to see what others are doing.

I own a black.white 458 and thus far have painted the grill housing the exhausts, and the exhaust tips black, including painting the mufflers (they showed through). I also placed a black wrap with small red stripe (to match calipers) along the line of the rocker panesl, placed dark clear vinyl over the front lights, and with my black wheels purchased black bolts. I am also placing a black key lock instead of the aluminum/steel the car comes with, painted black, the word Ferrari on the rear deck, and darkened all the side lights around the car. Internally, I had installed a control for exhaust valves ,on and off. Happy to show pictures if anyone needs to see but really more interested in seeing what others have done. Best

Yes, please some pics. I'd love to see what you have done. I know there was a whole thread about the steel colored key hole and how to deal with it, so that alone is worth a few pics.

Sounds like some minortasteful modifications. I for one would love to see the pictures.

This Saturday we will finish the keyhole and add black lug nuts. I will photo and share.

The first picture could be clearer (will try when get the chance) showing all black (which I believe flows better with the black back than chrome). It really made a difference to also blacken the mufflers which showed through the mesh and (imo) was distracting.

The second picture was how the car was ordered and the second after putting on wrap (black with small red stripe to match calipers) and darkening the side lights.

Subtle touches (as I see it) that highlight the lines of the car.

I originally ordered the car with black wheels the Cavalino in Silver against Black, and asked Ferrari to paint front and rear in black instead of usual greay (for white cars).

Looks fantastic! Amazing how such subtle changes can make the car look so different.

If I purchased a Picasso I would resist the temptation to touch it here and touch it up there (even if I believed I could improve on it).

I feel the same way about the 458 (which should be arriving in 60 days or so).

I hear what you're saying, but I think small modifications are fine. It's all up the to the person. Some people make no modifications, some alter the car greatly. Ex: Mansory

I think the modifications you've made are subtle enough and look great. It's not like you added a ugly wing or something these modifications are done with good taste. I prefer to keep things completely stock but that's just me. I appreciate when someone personalizes their prized possession . What matters most is that you love it! A great looking car, keep enjoying it!

I appreciate all comments, and really enjoy this car as much as any I have owned or driven. I keep it in San Diego, and when in town, drive it daily never once looking at the odometer (this car was bought for me, me, me, and I am wringing every last bit of pleasure from it I can).

I view the purchase of a home or car (maybe with very rare exception) as self indulgence. Our taste is not always the tase of others, recognizing "beauty is in the "eye of the beholder".

We all risk ( plastic surgeons, after marketers, etc.) too much "tinkering", and I remind myself "perfection is the enemy of good".

I will send better pictures including the keyhole.

It surprises me that only one other picture has appeared on this thread and (forgive me if I missed something), it looks like a "stock" bi-color 458.

Given inquiries about carbon fiber badges, exhausts, etc., and so many after market products, there would be more. Maybe most of us "ordered" exactly what we wanted. Nothing wrong with that.

I will have installed black keyhole, additional wrap toward front of car, and black lug nuts, by Tuesday of next week and post afterwards. Best

I think it looks great! I too, was wondering about the show-through of the mufflers.

Very nice. It was a close call for me, choosing between the black/red and black/white. You might find powder coating the exhaust tips black and blackening the mufflers a great final touch , I know I did. Enjoy and thanks for sharing. Best

The person I went through is Travis Fowler (San Diego Motorsports). His team could not be nicer or more dedicated and I am certain they will help you get what you want.Phone number 858-202-1300. Best
