Joe, is that the same white CGT my friend drove down to Carmel in 2007 when I brought the F40 to our anniversary event? I can't remember if you came to the house we were staying in but you would remember the car as I made him park the car in the driveway as i parked the F40 in the garage.

Yes, at one point he was thinking about selling. I can always ask the question respectfully again.

    Thought so. Awesome.

We had a little, oh I don't know, some might use the words "drag race" down Carmel Valley road after the Baja Cantina event and all he could talk about after that was what a beast the F40 was.

I think that Scott (SMG2 on here) might have partaken with his uber charged Mondi. A good time was had by all, that's for sure.

That CGT did sound pretty cool, though.

You would have had to seen it. *Someone* blocked traffic and cleared about a mile of road for us.

He had a passenger and I didn't so maybe I had an unfair advantage but let's call it a tie. Although we did it from a rolling 25 mph start and didn't go anywhere near the top limits of the cars, the thing that was most apparent in the whole thing is the difference between a 5 speed and 6 speed, although the turbo vs n/a dynamic was very interesting to observe as well. Overall, if speed and acceleration is what you're most curious about, watching it unfold in that setting was more informative than any set of magazine tests could ever be.

By the way, the statute of limitations ran out on this as its been over 5 years.

Hasn't an Fchater that owns a CGT put his car against a few Supercars cars at an airport run way that included the F40 and the CGT beat the F40 in multiple timed runs?

Yes, Bill S. but I don't believe he had his F40 at the time. He ran his Enzo and cgt.

Well it's very possible that given unlimited road and the freedom to run at super high speeds for extended periods, the difference would be more clear but, as I said, the way we did it with the space and speed constraints we were under, we just called it a tie. It was more of an experiment to see how they stacked up against each other. Remember, we just went through a few gears flat out for a few seconds and then backed off.

It's also worth saying that the turbos in this F40 were replaced a few years ago with upgraded turbos so maybe that made it a little closer. Who knows. Ask Scott what he thinks. He saw the whole thing.

Does anyone other than me think the CGT is a bargain right now in the 300-400k range? I was just reading a bit about the new 918 Spyder in Christophorus magazine and they are stating a curb weight around 3960 pounds!
