Amazing. Vettel gets hated because of what he wears on Letterman (and Letterman gets hated too) and now Lewis gets hated for what he wears? You guys have to be kidding!!

What the hell is it to us what they wear or what they do with their time?

I would love to see him at Ferrari. I used to dislike Alonso but now he is one of my favorites. Driving for the red team has that effect on me, I suppose.

Did anyone else catch the Buxton report during qualifying regarding the next driver for Ferrari? Reportedly Sergio Perez is still to young at 23 and and another driver mentioned who is 27 was deemed as being to old and this info was supposedly from someone within the Ferrari team.

Now that lewis is 27 is he too old for Ferrari? I would have no issue with Lewis going to Ferrari as imho that would be an almost unbeatable driver pairing if given a competative car. Also nobody outside of Ferrari knows what Massa's future holds. After this race the silly season officially begins and it should get interesting with alot of happy and sad expressions on FChat.

    Just another "skewed perception".

If Ferrari take Hamilton, it's the internal bs he will cause that will be the downfall of the team, whether the car is ten seconds faster than everything else or not. He may be playing nice with Alonso at the moment, but if he were given a contract, his true colours will come out.

The guy allows things to get to him. Just remember when Alonso was getting divorced, did anyone see that in his driving...... NO........ he just drove and carried on. Hamilton split with his girlfriend, and like many teeenagers decided to strike out at anyone and anything he could..... how many times did he drive into massa and the rest at the time? ...... signs of a petulant and arrogant nature throwing toys out the pram which damaged both himself and McLaren at the time.

Even though I don't like the guy, I do agree he has extreme talent, but as everyone knows, with genius comes a little crazy too, where most drivers can hide it, Hamilton wears it proudly on his chest, and that's neve going to be good for a emotionally driven team like Ferrari, it will implode.

Yes I agree, but 95% of this forum would have nothing to whine and gloat about...

Per an F1 podcast, wherever Hamilton ends up, it's already been decided. He said it was finalized, however that is all that we can know at this time.

Alonso is nothing short of Ferrari's savior since coming onboard. They wouldn't do something that would anger him like accepting Hamilton.

Hamilton was practically raised by Ron Dennis and won't be allowed to slip away so easily. McLaren is off at the moment, but isn't dying. Things can change dramatically in 2 weeks in F1. :D

I can't take any of this seriously when you say "he drove into Massa and the rest of the field". The Massa incidents were at least as much Massa's fault, if not more. If one doesn't like Lewis, they will find ways to confirm their bias.

If one does like Lewis they will find a way to confirm/justify their bias aswell, both edges of the knife are sharp.

That's a cop out.... the incidents between Massa and Lewis were, at most favorably to Massa, 50/50.

I remember you stating Ham will annihilate Button at Mclaren.

Mike is spot on as usual, your total bias is so evident it renders your posts irrelevant.

Uh oh krafty, king of f1 is sticking up for mike... As usual, you just attack, nothing to say that's sensible. Button did annihilate Hamilton last year..... Or don't you remember. Neither of them is much cop this year, the car seems to have gone backwards compared to the rest...

Mike picked one little part of post to have a pop at, a post you yourself actually stated you seemed to agree with...... as usual it's just an excuse to start a row.

Maybe you need to go have some anger management?

I know at least as much as either of you about f1, so I'm entitled to my opinion on the matter same as you guys.

I freely admit I don't like hamiltons style, I don't like button either, but he doesn't throw his toys out the pram and pout in the media quite so much, where Hamilton courts controversy all the time.

When Alonso was at Renault in 2006, I was similarly unimpressed with his whining and blaming the team when schum was closing the gap, but he has grown up a lot since arriving at Ferrari and gets on with the job making the most of his equipment, even when it isn't good

The question I have is this, how long is buttons contract at McLaren. If he has time, will they use this to push hamiltons salary down stating they only need one driver, or does he have wiggle room, if button is out of contract too or relying on renewal, they maybe couldn't risk hamilton walking off to lotus/elsewhere then being forced to find two drivers?

Reportedly JB's contract extension was/is worth £85million at £12m per season which is approximately 7yrs if my highschool math skills are correct.

I am almost certain Lewis will stay at McLaren.

I think Lewis and Jenson make good teammates because Jenson is more calm and level headed and that is a plus for Lewis and will help him in the longrun.

Who here believes that JB will still be driving for McL (F1) at the end of the 2019 season?

    That's a long time.

I suspect there is a lot of fine print / performance clause escapes...

Wow, thats some contract... couldnt remember what was said at the time, and thought if it was short then McLaren might be taking a risk messing Hamilton around in case they both go... but looks like they have a safety net

The only top team that SHOULD (NEEDS!) to make a change is Ferrari. MB may want to revisit the MS situation but RB are set for next year and if MW left RB then Lewis should have jumped into that seat....Lewis would have podiumed yesterday but for his bad luck (probably caused by his bff Massa); McLaren are hardly HRT. What Lewis needs to be wary of is the MB engine contract with McL-how long will it last, etc.

McLaren Group chairman Ron Dennis echoed the views of team principal Martin Whitmarsh in saying he expects Lewis Hamilton to continue with the team beyond the end of his contract this season.

Ron Dennis expects Lewis Hamilton to stay at McLaren
"There's no reason Lewis won't be driving our cars in the future," Dennis said. "When I last looked at the contract I was paying him. It's a question of whether we employ him, not the other way around. If things pan out the way I expect them to I'm pretty sure he'll be sat in a McLaren next year."( BBC Radio 5 live )
