We don't often have very much levity here on technical -

But I just saw this on TV while watching Top Gear...

Exxon Mobil - "We engineer our gasoline to work on the MOLECULAR LEVEL"

May I ask one simple question?

At what other level could a chemical fuel possibly work?

:) Chevron will probably now counter with something like "We use nanotechnology in our fuel formulations" or "Our bosuns are the best in the business"

Forget the engineering, it's all about using the right marketing buzzwords these days isn't it?

I'm waiting for the "certified organic" gasoline... It's better for your car.

Isn't that the hype behind Ethanol?

(And you're not supposed to be worried about what's better for your car. You're supposed to sacrifice to what's claimed to be better for the Urth.)

A while back, the local market's milk was labeled: "Now 98% Natural Ingredients!"
I asked the cashier, "Only 2% ectoplasm, eh?"
    She didn't get it.

(What's the opposite of "natural ingredients"? Supernatural ingredients? :p)

I really hate that commercial too. Trying to sound "scientific" to an audience who
isn't really sure what a molecule even is.

    Nitrogen enriched!

At the Shell station IIRC. What the hell does that mean, air in it?

No joking, I saw a sticker at the Valero station that said "enriched with 10% ethanol" as though that was a good thing!

At Shell Labs last week a truck re configured chrome raised letters on the tailgate to say:

    "Got Biochar??"

I have no idea what that means....they had story boards up on the Canadian tar sands too..

Lol! Sounds like they are bombarding everyone with buzzwords instead of really saying" we are adding loads of extra ethanol which is about as welcome as a really itchy venereal disease if you run an old-style v8"
