He didn't seem to dead on the way home. Very spirited ride, hope you got some good video. What a great day and great weather. I am tired but I think I will make it to GBury in the morning. Hope to see ya there. --Mike
it was a fun ride home. Unfortunately the cam wasn't on. Forget to turn it back after we stopped to wait for the others and then rushed to get moving again
GREAT day indeed, the grill really was key...next time need to just camp overnight. Time to step it up! For sure the best part as always was the drive up...both Frank and I bottomed out over one steep crest, just as Enzo would have wanted More pics to come... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great Day! Had seen some Challenge races at different tracks, but first time at Lime Rock.. met a great range of people from real world 3xx owners that have kept them original (no shields or sheepskin seat covers haha) and love their cars, to an older gentleman (non fchatter) ex Chinetti associate who was getting his Very early plexi 365 GTB/4 completely Classiched! great stories about how things were, and how they haven't changed that much....."you put your car and whatever parts in a transport container, and we'll maybe send you a pic a couple months later showing what we're doing"!! Some great racing and good times overall.
I got a pic of the Ferrari on the hill. Looks as tho it was getting some attention. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That wonderful car never drew a smidgen of the attention your Ferrari got. LOL. I agree with all the sentiments. Great day, Great friends, Great ride, Great weather, who could ask for more.
Great day in spite of my battery / charging system issues. I might miss "church" this AM as I'm about to run out and get a Deka AGM group 34 battery, replace/renew wiring as needed, do a permanent install of a Guest marine charger/maintainer, and do some testing. I will apply my EE "skilz" to the fullest. The battery is definitely toast after some additional testing (won't charge and presents a high impedance to the charger). I have to determine the condition of the charging system as well. Also looking at installing one of those cheap and cheerful LCD voltmeters which can monitor its power supply voltage as the idiot light never came on. Thanks to Dino, Lane and Peter for advice and help. I decided on relying on my Hagerty+ free 50 mile flatbed service and it went without a hitch. Turns out the driver rebuilds transmissions, so we had an interesting conversation on the way back. Tom: Your Lotus was brilliant! I'll post some photos later. We went over there to take some photos of it, laughing the whole time. As we were doing this, some rather well-to-do looking and conservatively dressed folks came over and, seeing what we were up to, started photographing the car as well. I think they thought they were looking at some rare Ferrari model. Gale said they should have let you park with the rest, as you're a member, it was creative, and brought happiness to everyone who saw it. I wholeheartedly agree. Best, Charles
Charles...I apologize for not checking in with you prior to leaving. I'm glad it worked out as well as it did. Sucks to be stuck worrying and working on stuff at the track rather than just enjoying the day.
Thanks Lane, and no worries... we did fine and the collective wisdom and help of the group was great. You're right, it really sucks as this ended up distracting me the almost the whole time. BTW, Gale thought it was funny that all of the Ferrari owners seemed to think this was a sort-of normal state of affairs. She said BMW owners would be terribly embarrassed, but for us it's just business as usual. I'll get some photos of Tom's car uploaded later.
Agree. What a great day. The spirited ride up is still the highlight. So many good people... I went back to get the 360 and bring it up to the camping area, but on way back got engrossed in a conversation with one of the racing teams and then with an owner of a 458. By the time I got back to the car, I was exhausted and decided a nice leisurely stroll home through as many back roads as I could find is what I needed. It took 2 hours to get back home, but found some of the most picturesque roads in northern CT.
OK here are a few Connecticut gathering logo idea's I came up with. Font is the main difference on the "Connecticut gathering" part 1st one is using Ferrari font 2nd is using Palatino Linotype 3rd has an outer glow on the letters similar to Fchat font 4th same font as CT gathering Let me know what you think? I'd say I like the 3rd best. IMO, the Ferrari font is too busy when spelling words other than "Ferrari". I would like to see the text at the bottom share the font of the top for consistency. One other observation: Many of the "CT Gatherers" come in non-Ferrari cars. Should a "CT Gatherers" logo be marque specific? On the other hand, I know that the Gatherers were formed here on a Ferrari forum by Ferrari guys. So... just giving my $0.02, which doesn't count for much in today's economy.
Ok i added a 4th logo with the same font as CT gathers. Unless someone wants to come up with a CT gathering logo the Ferrari logo only seems correct since the gathering is from a Ferrari forum
Thanks Lane and Mike for sharing your insignt and allowing me to try and wedge my 6'3" frame into your cars. I think I need to find a willing owner of a 348 tb and see how much headroom I should expect before I pull the trigger. What a great afternoon.
Few other options since its at starbucks Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
very cool, honored you would include FerrariChat. Ferrari is famous though for not being honored with use of their horse. Please don't use FerrariChat name with Ferrari's protected prancing horse. I would love for you to keep the FerrariChat name and use something not protected. If you want to use the prancing horse please just remove our name. thank you.
Thanks for the heads up. i will find something else to make it work. if you need to remove the current pics by all means please do so. Hey guys any other ideas for a logo?
Blaine...sorry I was so preoccupied. I would have loved to give a you better understanding of the mighty 348 as it truly is my favorite Ferrari. Happy to answer any questions I can or direct you to those that can. I think your desire to "try on" a TB is a very sound idea. Great to meet you and Good Luck!
Starbucks will be pounding down you door next for using their logo as it is trademarked. I think #3 of the first four looks good. It's great you put your time into this project. Thanks
I love the nondescript exotic car used in the Limerock Logo but not so crazy about the cat scratch background and color palette. Can we Mod that out a bit and apply it to the Ferrari Giallo background in place of the Cavalino? (hopefully not too cartoonish) I'm also concerned about use of the Ferrari font for the reason Rob mentioned above. Dunno if SBucks would complain but seriously...they've never acknowledged us anyway.
Hey guys any other ideas for a logo?[/QUOTE] How about a rough outline of a certain Ferrari car? Sort of like the image shown on this web page = http://www.google.com/search?q=ferrari+car+outline&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari#biv=i|0;d|bgRpUHffahUbnM: Don't know how to upload pics here. If I could draw I would be more than happy to help but a second grader would give better results.
