Anyone have a source for the original tire valve caps? I found this one at $1 each that looks close but the knurling isn't as fine.

What is the original cap, if any, for a 72-73 US car?

I think the thread on the low mileage Dino 07920 has a pic of the original caps.

Picture in the OP is "close"....

    Knurling texture should be ribbed?

My guess is that the knurled pic from 07920 is correct. The "ribbed" style is what I call coin edged like a quarter. I don't think that style is correct. I have the knurled style on my original '74 Stratos spare tire that looks like the one on 07920.

Good point, I'll have to check my older spares and see what is still on there!

    Thanks!

At an FCA National Concours, one of the judges told me that Mercedes caps are equivalent. I put them on for the next concours - no deduction.

Those Mercedes caps are the same as ones I bought from BMW around 10 years or so back. I knew they'd come in useful one day. I have just enough to fit my three cars.

Perhaps, but not the same as what's on Dino 07920, the current candidate for most original. The top perimeter is too rounded and the center bump is also too rounded. Post #1 is closest to what 07920 has, but not a perfect match.

The Mercedes caps are available from the Mercedes Classic Center for about $2.20 ea, part #007757-008600.
