My 360 Spider 2003, won't rev past 1200 RPM. The problem began suddenly when I started the engine after I parked outside a shop. I had to drive 20 kms home using 1200 RPM and only 1st or 2nd gear.

I can't get the car to an SD2 yet, until the clutch is replaced. But I am still trying to see if I can trouble shoot the problem.

OK, so the problem is that the engine is not running on all cylinders, I suspect only 1 bank.
The engine won't rev past 1200 RPM.
The gearbox light and the ASR warning remains lit. All fuses, relays, fluids, battery checked.

An additional thing I heard is that one of the electrically operated throttle bodies is clicking continually when the ignition is switched on, or somewhere nearby. I experimented with swapping the engine ECU's from left to right and visa versa (everything properly earthed etc), and the clicking changed to the other side.

Does anyone have any ideas? Could an ECU be gone? When all is operating normally, should the throttle bodies be making a sound, or should they be quiet?

Pull codes with generic OBD II reader and let us know what they are.

Edited to say my money is on no fuel pressure on one bank.

just had 360 spider do that to me last week, exactly the same problem! one of your ecu's went bad...if the right throttle body is clicking its the left hand ecu, visaversa...and I was not able to communicate with the ecu to get faults, I just had a couple of extras laying around, put it in and problem fixed...NEXT!

Try reseting the car and going thru the learning cycle. No cost possible fix.

Thanks everyone for suggestions. I have already tried switching the battery off overnight. Is that what you mean by resetting? How do I get the ECU's to go through the learning cycle without having an SD2? I do have an OB2.

I did try my OB2 unit, but in discussions in the 360 section, people are saying that the OB2 system was only designed for emission issues, and only an SD2 will do a proper job of analysis.

    A simple OB2 reader gave the following error codes;
P1628 module ignition supply malfunction - I suspect that this is the main problem
    P0600 serial communication link error
    P1188 calibration memory fault

Look forward to reading further suggestions.

I dont know where you are located but if you are in the SoCal area I have ignition coils you could borrow for testing.

I believe the error "P0600 serial communication link error" means you are missing one of the grounding pins in the OBDII connector.

If you swapped motronic Ecuador from side to side and the problem followed the ecu you have a bad motronic.before replacing the ecu make sure all of the connections and grounds are good so you won't damage the new ecu. If you find a used ecu it can only be used on the lh bank because the immobilizer burns a code in the rh ecu so it's married to the car.a ecu with a code burned in it will work fine on lh side

Yea, that was the first thing I tried, actually disconnected the ecu over night. I plugged it in the next day and AWSOME...it worked... problem fixed, until it left me stranded on the side of I 40 doing the same thing again :-( luckily I brought my extra ecu with me just in case ;-) and so I swapped it out to get me back to my destination.

Hi there I have the same problem 20/8/2018 how did you fix it in the end . My 360 won’t fire on left bank and throttle body is clicking . I’m thinking it’s the right ecu controlling the left bank

Right ECU is controlling the right bank ... but it is connected to the left AFM and throttle body. That's because, at low load, the right bank is breathing through the left AFM / throttle body, and the long crossing intake path.
You may have an issue with the left ECU. First, check all related fuses and relays.
