Driving my F355, oil pressure was good, water temp good, had traveled less than one mile when I heard a pop! Turned it off immediately. Restarted but heard bad noise immediately and shut off after 3-4 seconds. Belts appear on the cams but I'm guessing teeth broke. Belts changed 3 years ago along with tensioners.

Anyone know a good and cheap (relatively speaking) repair shop in LA that is hungry for work?

Could be the serpentine belt, those makes all kinds of bad noises if they break and get wrapped around an accessory.

I don't think these two exist together ;-)

    I would recommend Fast Cars.

Seriously? Isn't your name Tristan, use to be an attorney, may still be? You should know better that the only shop in Los Angeles worth going to is Blackhorse Motors, go see Carl he will treat you right.

The word "cheap" and "Ferrari" don't go together. Sell the car... Get a Honda, cheap and reliable.

    Good Luck!!!

I had a seriously bad noise come out of my F355 engine bay one time. I though it was a broken crankshaft, and so did the shop that found the problem,.

Well, it ends up the bearings at the end of the pumpkin had blown out and was allowing the clutch+pressureplate+DMFW to rattle around.

    ANyways, good luck.

Come on! Seriously! You are trying to suggest to the mechanic that ... "three years ago, you did a service on my car, and I was happy with it for three years, and now something broke at the exact interval that the factory is recommending another belt service, and it is YOUR fault"

If I were that mechanic, I would politely ask you to leave, before using stronger language.

If they are real good, they are likely not hungry for work.
If they are real good, they are likely not cheap.
If they are cheap, they are likely not good.
If they are cheap and good, they are ... also not hungry for work.

And, if they are cheap and hungry for work, you likely don't want their work.

I had the same experience when the tensioner bearing on my serpentine belt failed. Hopefully it is a simple fix like that. Good luck!

I don't think that's what he is saying. At least that's not the way I took it.

I think he is simply saying, "why not take it back to your same old mechanic".

And I agree, why not take it back to your same old mechanic.... unless of course, there's something you're not telling us.......
