the fuel hog label applied to all jets of the period... the early Lears with the GE engines liked a lot of fuel, as with the airlines, technology in the engines moved forward making the newer editions more fuel efficient, powerful and quieter... it applied to all the manufactureres... many good airframes were re engined as an alternative to getting a entire new airplane

    back to the subject....(charter costs...)

Any knowledge here on the cost of a G5 or equivalent charter R/T Milan, Italy to Seattle, WA? 4 pax expected. Anything smaller able to do this trip in equivalent comfort/efficiency?

    TIA

Is origination in Europe or US? European aircraft charter at a higher rate.

G-V and Global Express are equivalent in capability. A Global 5000 and Falcon 7X may both be able to do it too - not completely sure. If you are willing to do a fuel stop then G-IV, Challenger, Falcon 900 are all possibilities.

    thanks Jeff-
Origin would likely be Europe....damn! Fuel stop OK; comfort of 90 yr. old passenger of most importance....
Any chance of a blue-sky guess on $? I don't even know the estimated times for such a trip..
    Are we talking < or > $50k?

My guessing is $6.5 - $10,000 per hour with 10 hours each way. Then add putting up the crew of 3 at a nice hotel in Seattle and per diem. Hopefully you do not need to do a major repositioning flight out from somewhere else in Europe to get to Milan.

Suggestions to try for quotes: PrivatAir and Jet Aviation, maybe Jet Club. Both should be able to offer something out of Geneva. If you have the idea of spaciousness then and can take the fuel stop then a Falcon 2000 or Challenger 604/605 may work.

Way more than $50k, no matter how you do it. Start at maybe $150k for a GIV, with a stop. Maybe...
