I have to say after knowing the car used, an S class with dubbed 275 sound over and actors playing pedestrians, I'm, disappointed. But its still a cool continuous shot that no ones has really successfully reproduced since this short movie came out!

    Thanks.

BTW, here is the Making Of vid:

LOL! Someone, please; count how many times this story has been posted and debunked!
Must be nearly 100X on FChat alone, let alone the "lesser" online rags........
Is this the single most enduring *myth* in the Ferrari world?

What story exactly are you referring to? Was the sound not overdubbed by that of a 275?

I still find it hard to believe it's a 275. It sounds too high pitched for a road ferrari. I would think the sound is from a 312F1 or similar..

Still a great car nonetheless. My friend still has one just sitting on wooden blocks in his parking lot.

BTW, any remake of this old 8 mins movie ? In a Lambo Superleggera perhaps ? :) Cut it down to 4 mins :p

I think Ken Block's latest San Francisco commercial blows Rendevoux away. No contest. And it was real.

Long time lurker, almost never post here, but i wanted to seize the oportunity to ask something that´s been bothering me for quite a while regarding this movie,at minutes 3:31 & 4:31 & again at 5:57 :

    http://vimeo.com/34039780

What did the driver do in order to produce that sound? Is it a simple downshift with heel and toe?

What kind of cars can reproduce the sound of the downshifts made in the movie (disregarding driver skill),can only older cars with carburetors sound like that or can a modern car make those kinds of sounds?

Hipothetically, not being a millionaire what car could i buy that sounded the most like the one in the movie?

    Thank you ;)

Who cares what the real story is?

The impression and the experience you get from watching is ALL that matters. Reality should never change image.

Space may be the final frontier but it's made in a Hollywood basement. SO WHAT.

Too bad it wasn't really a Ferrari.

    Consider this:
This was made in 1976! It was a wide angle 35mm camera hard-mounted on a Mercedes driven by the director himself...No gyros! The soundtrack is said to be from the director Claude LeLouch's Ferrari 275GTB.
