Bruno has a good set of sponsors. He's backed by Embratel (Carlos Slim), OGX (Eike Batista) and Santander who have sponsored him in lower formulas.

It was very clear that Williams needed drivers with cash behind them. Rubens brought no money.

Rubens outscored his teammates every year at Williams (and at Jordan, and at Stewart).

Certainly, Rubens was being paid, but I'm not sure how clear it was that Williams *needed* drivers with cash - I don't think they're "hurting" as the above seems to imply. They may want to keep their shareholders happy, but I figured The Rev had covered that!.......

Exactly, and I believe would have outscored either of the new guys this season too.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Could be but Williams did choose two relatively inexperienced drivers. A couple of years ago Maldonado (with PDVSA) replaced the very talented Hulkenberg. Bruno Senna was lackluster with HRT and Lotus and yet he replaced Rubens.

I don't know if Williams is hurting but their budget must be tight when compared to the top teams. Looking at the car, all sponsor but one are linked to the drivers.

Rubens did an interview at the end of last year stating lack of money was his shortcoming against other drivers.... and it was.

Pastor. A win is huge. He's made lots of mistakes but he's fast. I could see him having a really strong 2nd half. Senna is coming up to speed too. These drivers have WAY more untapped potential than a has-been (never been?) Rubens, IMO.
