I'm *04022* euro imported 1977/Nov. I have Vdub belts but they may have been installed as part or the bond release process. I have owned the car since 1984. However, my belts are not retractable and my lock piece is square. I can send pics if I can figure out how to use my new phone/cam and can get more info if you are interested. I just went out to the car for a quick look but can do a more detailed search if you want.

The VW/Repa belts are incorrect. Common retrofit for DOT approval. Should be Klippan. U.S. model detachable shoulder strap w/receiver w/small push button. Euro was non retractable w/lift handle receiver. Seen later Dinos w/Klippan retractable with similar receiver as VW/Repa. I'm sure someone has photos to show the differences.

Sounds like I am looking for Klippan belts. Can anyone speculate on the motivation for changing the belts. I am the third owner, purchased last year from the owner since 82. I am going to send the previous owner an email asking if she ever changed the belts. Any pictures of what I am looking for to have the correct belts would be helpful.

Keep the search going. I will need a correct set of belts for my 1972 euro car. If somebody finds a source, let me know.

    Sure I can speculate.

The originals are tricky and sticky and break.

So, just replace it with something handy, it's JUST a Dino, not worth struggling over...as the thought process was back in the day of $8,000 Dinos.....

You may try these people; I sent them my belts for restoration, they returned my untouched belts with some very nice (used) belts that are identical. In other words, they may have the correct belts on the shelf.

Finally, I will mention that safety upgrades including belts and fire suppression do not count against you in concours judging (AFAIK).

I'm not going into concours competition but do want to bring my car back to the day it came out of the factory with all things as correct as possible.

You won't lose points for different safety belts in a concours, according to the official Ferrari Club rules. It's a safety feature and the rules explicitly say it's OK.

I have 4 point racing belts in my car and have been in several national concours events. They have never been an issue.

Not to steal the thread, but I do need to see about a set of race belts for my TR. Leads are welcome ... PM me or hit me on the TR page.

Back on subject, I some leads on my Dino belts but welcome more. The Dino is going back to as original as I can make it.

    Cheers, Bob

I need a lead on these. I am not all that far away with *04022* and would like to find the correct stuff. I know my belts are wrong coming from Vdub.

I think I have found the correct ones out of a 1972 Alfa. I only have pictures now but they look correct. When I get them I will post pictures.

How do you keep the ends of the Klippan tag from fraying further? Mine are similar to the photo above.

    Hello, Scott,

Here is a photo I took today of the back of belt buckle. This shows “Robbins,” as yours does.

The lap belt length, extended, is 80cm as it pokes out of the cover. The shoulder belt is about 110cm.

The retractor cover about 14cm tall, taken from the bottom edge of the cover. Here is another photo that might be helpful.

Finally, the shoulder restraint adjuster is at the buckle end, as shown here.

On my car, the belt is Klippan model 562.

I hope this helps you. I took out the Dino for a spin this morning. It was a great thing to do on the last day of the year. My best wishes to all for the New Year.

My buckles on my car (#4866), a 1972 US model, are different from yours, Giotto, as shown above.

Rynoshark, perhaps the best is to have the ends stitched?

It looks like ssnake-oyl.com can duplicate the Klippan 562 belts which are correct for my 1972 GT 03872. The only issue is the Klippan label. I am going to have to find someone to duplicate the label. It appears that the material is a silk or similar material. I am looking for some tight high resolution pictures that I can use with the silkscreener. I need the dimensions and how it mounts to the harness and lap belt. I am trying to duplicate the phont. If anyone is an expert at this any help would be apreciated. When I get it fgured out I will make a big batch if others are interested. Attached is where I am so for. Obviously I have work to do on getting the phont correct. The numbers are the difficult phont to duplicate.

Klippan still exists. I wonder how they would react to a group buy of exact replica seat belts for the Dino?

I am a buyer if they will remake vintage belts! Way easier all this brain damage.

Those are replacement belts. Originals (at least in the GTS) were lap belts only. No spring stalk like in your pics, just attached to the floor on the right side (the buckle side), with regular webbing and a bolt and the left side has a black plastic cover which swivels up and down and has a retractor for the belt.

I ordered aftermarket belts for my E-type and they look almost identical to your setup.

    Dinofan,

I can help with the artwork/font/layout. What you have is a good start but the spacing and layout need some work. Also appears there is a thin black line that surrounds the whole layout. See first photo below. PM me .....

Also, anyone know where I could find some parts for my belts? As you can see on the bottom photo the side tab of the sunburst button is broken and the plastic part that surrounds the sunburst in broken into 3 pieces. Perhaps the http://ssnake-oyl.com/ company UroTrash?

    Thank you,

    Tom

Some Fiat and Lancia buckles are the same.
