Bought a 2010 599 gtb. Under acceleration, the car is very unstable and slides ,wheels spin. Can someone shed some light on what is happening? The tires are the original ones with less than 3k. There are no messages on the dash of any issues.... Maybe I have the traction control disabled and I don't know it. .???
I have yet to get to the car but I was told by a friend that is in possess of it that it slides under acceleration terribly..... I will get to her Wednesday next week,it is overseas...min the meantime, some ideas would be appreciated.... Besides the sport mode on the steering ,what else can cause this to deactivate the traction control? I haven't sat in the 599 yet, so I am not familiar with them yet !

I have an answer, but may I ask two questions first: why do you buy a car with a major issue? How can you transport a car overseas within a week?

I once had the same problem on a 2010 XKR. One of the wheels had too low pressure in it. That caused terrible sliding under acceleration. Actually it was quite fun, but it felt a little dangerous at high speeds and of course reduced acceleration.

Like the previous poster, incorrect pressures are most likely the answer. Otherwise, have the tyres checked for integrity at a depot or the dealer, possibly chemical issue with them. Had it with a set on my 612 once, where the car itself was built earlier than registered new, and hence the tyres had been standing. They had 'gone off', weird but true. Brand new set solved issue immediately

the car is a original paint low mileage near new with warranty and documents from new... no story car ! all tires are perfect. pressure as well.

the car is a euro car bought overseas. i am told it has no traction under accelerations. maybe he has it set without the traction control "on" ... ? what button controls the traction control disable or enable ?

My guess would be tire pressures or some other tire issue, too. In my 2007 599, if I punch the accelerator hard at around 3000 rpm in first or second gear, the tires immediately break loose and spin. However, if the mannetino is set to sport, the traction control kicks in and pulls the engine back. In race mode the tires will spin, but the car goes straight (assuming the steering wheel is pointed straight to start with). Completely controllable.

Sounds like a traction control issue to me. Check your mannetino setting to see where it's at. :)

It's the switch located on the bottom right of the steering wheel. :)

instead of driving in the sport mode, he was using the green slot..above snow.. what is this one called ? and why would the car lack traction in that mode ?

anyone know what tires originally came with the car ? brand model .. i want to make sure i am on the original tire make... and model...

The green setting(low grip) is supposed to maintain a safe amount of grip in all conditions. On Ferrari's website it says this setting should be used if you are driving in the rain or on poor roads. I would try the sport setting on dry roads and see how the car responds.

You've also got 620 odd horses under the hood....that requires a light foot.

If your tire pressure is correct and the manettino setting is not in foul weather setting, and you get severe wheel spin, it is possible that there is an e-diff control issue.

Could this be an alignment issue? I heard 599's are very sensitive to this. Owners chime in.

In Green\Low grip mode you will have more traction, Sport would make it worse. Check the sticker, it will list which tires were shipped on the car.

I can't recall what the original tires are on my car (an '08) but in sport (or certainly rain) mode, I have never had the tires spin. Maybe I'm not planting my foot straight on the floor but the traction control system should be kicking in way before that. I can only think that there is something wrong with the traction control computer if you are in one of these modes and the tires are still spinning.

2 tire options for this car from the factory, PS2 and PZero. It's most likely raining and the car is in race mode. There is nothing wrong with these cars.

Iam pretty sure factory settings are 32psi up front /29PSI rear.
One question Iam pretty sure you could opt for run flats on the 599.. I know its a shot in the dark but make sure they are not..Cold runflats on a 600+ hp car can spell trouble, even when they are up to temp....I had Vipers so I know.......
