This isn't Imola, the only thing they've changed since senna's death was the first chicane...

Not to split hairs but I think more things have changed since 94, possibly related or not to Senna: chicane before the Lesmos, flow of Ascari

I might be wrong on the timing but I do think they tinkered (and castrated) with the track

Didn't they change the first lap as well? It used to be left then right. Now it's the other way round..

I looked at images and it's hard to see, but you're right. The track was ''squeezed'' so to say.
Yes that's what I mentioned...it was left right left right and now its right left.

Impossible to predict. Looks like both McLaren and Red Bull should field strong packages.

Thanks to Lettuce, we have no idea if Ferrari's upgrades worked, although Phil did well in the race but he must have been running a 3 liter motor lol.

Seriously, Ferrari need to step it up re the car upgrades as no one is laying down and there are a lot of races left.

(Okay, it's highly unlikely but I'm getting fantastic odds at the bookies! :D )

surprisingly little if any signs of the GP in Milan. One shoe store had a RB racing "sim". A few scattered fans, that's all. Even Budapest or Valencia celebrate their GPs more than the Italians :(

If you're present for Schu winning there I will laugh myself to sleep for a week lol. You will forever be branded Schu's good luck charm.

Too bad the Italians seem less-than excited about Monza, then again Milan isn't really the place is it? I mean, it's more of a fashion place that could in essence care less about F1?

Regardless, have fun. Wish I were there. Very envious.

    Tks.

I am stunned about the lack of enthusiasm. You are right that Milan has other things to offer but so does eg. Barcelona or Nice where the nearby GP is a big deal.

And: Monza is 13 minutes train ride away from Milan, that's closer than any of these other places.

    I don't get it.

PS: took a pic for you at the local MB shop: big MS model and a tiny Nico model next to it, I'm sure you'll get a laugh

It's Milan!.... They're *WAY* too "cool" to show any enthusiasm today!..... I think you'll find it different on Sunday (esp if a Ferrari should win of course ;)).

Looking forward to your reports anyway, thanks.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Hah. I'm sure Nico doesn't like that! Ah well. Thanks!

Tks, but don't get too jealous: I'm only there tomorrow. Already traveling again on Sunday. Which means that the biggest race action will be in Ascari on Sunday so that I will forever regret this travel plan. :)

But seriously for me being at Monza and seeing the cars live is all I want. To watch a race TV is still better. I know, cheap excuse...

I shot a series of pic to the contrary: a brave Italian drove his Italia straight through the center of Milan. Talk about natural habitat
