I am always the first to ***** about Ferrari's reliabilty and cost of repairs but a new clutch is not expensive. In fact a clutch in the Mustang probally costs more installed then my 355.

    Parts/labour/taxes/installed: CDN$4,000.00 (at the dealership).

I've launched mine at around 4k RPM and it did wonderful, too bad I was going up against a Honda 929RR(bike) but I still feel I did well, the rider of the bike said it was the only time he saw a car keep up with him that well.
4k RPM and watch him cry like the donkey on his hood.

Allan, Rev it to about 6,000 RPM and dump the clutch, my 95 has no traction control so I don't think yours does either. PM me and I will let you know more.

Alan, lots of good tips but is this guy worth it? It is so easy to do gearing and other mods to Mustangs that are not easily recognizable from outside. I would go with the rolling start mph that puts you in the 4,500 rpm range. This puts you in the advantage of your 355 starting to breathe and you do not have to worry about the clutch or tires smoking.

When these guys challenge, tell them you will race them to 150mph and back to zero three times in a row. That will send them away with there heads spinning! :)

Stick it to him Allanlambo. I know Ferraris aren't drag cars, but I actually beat a 68 Charger with a 440 six pack from a slow roll up to about 110 with my Testarossa. Took him by about two car lengths. The musclecar guys watching were impressed that my little 301 cubes beat the mopar big block. He was running 3.23 gears and my car has 3.21.....both cars weigh about the same. I was very proud (and surprised) the ol'e boxer 12 did it!

    Allan,

Put him on the stop, invite him to the canyons and tell him to put his pinkslip on it. Tell him you're putting up the pink of your Ferrari up maybe he'll bite. Then give the Russtang to your wife and get her a license plate thanking him.

In that case, id rather take the Russtang and throw it off the cliff as he watches. That would be hillarious!

LOL, this guy with the Mach 1 is going to get his doors blown off. Being a Mustang guy myself and knowing quite a bit about them I know that the Mach 1 5 speed is good for mid to low 13's @ 105 or so. (Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords claim 13.1's @ 106 stock but I find that hard to believe) The auto will be about 103 trap speed and high 13's. Fords auto is a real slushbox.

The F355 is capable of high 12's @ 110 or so right? Little quicker than a C5 Vette right?

Hehe. Maybe I misunderstood. An old Mach 1, or the very recent Mach 1.

Even if i hit a 13.3, that would be good enough to destroy the Mach 1 which is a 14.0 car.

Old or new Mach 1 will get walked if the 355 is driven correctly. Even if you don't get a good launch you will be pulling him back at a pretty decent clip.

Okay. If you lost to a recent one, you'd have to screw up. Old muscle cars make me nervous. Sure as stock in 196x on bias plys they weren't up to modern snuff. But the guy who claims his muscle car is "just 'bout stock" and wants to race a current fast car is either crazy or fibbing on the stock part.

Doh, I keep forgetting this is a slushbox Mach 1 lol. I ran one from a roll and he only put about 1.5 car length in between my front and his rear bumper from 50-100 3rd gear entire time. I wasn't impressed at all. This was an automatic btw.

Rick, an auto Mach 1 is not that slow. I don't know what it was doing. Maybe you were driving down a hill and he was driving up one. He would put more than one car on you from a roll.

Anyways, I was at VMP this weekend and there were stock 5spd Mach 1's running in the low 13's. Be careful if you run any of those cars from a stop. Hell, I cut a 1.9 60' on my stock tires in my GT. We are dangerous from a dig if you aren't careful.

Oh, Rick, you should get around to changing your password.
