So according to this accurate data a 458 is just under 70 kg~155 lbs heavier than a Scuderia if it is optioned with racing seats and forged wheels and not opted front lift, AFS, Navi and extra jbl sound system.
Not quite. The 458 Italia is almost 400 lbs heavier than the Scuderia. When the 458 is optioned with the Racing seats and forged wheels, the difference is still in the 330 lbs range. There are minor weight savings in the Italia adding Carbon parts, but they cannot reach 30 lbs, so even the lightest possible configuration in the 458 Italia is 300 lbs heavier than the Scuderia, but most of the Italias out there are 375 lbs heavier. There is plenty of weight to be saved on the Italia, using some of the F458 Challenge components.
Thank you for the clarification. I'm anxiosly waiting for my Sept. built Italia. I spec the car with racing buckets, alcantara (DAAL), some interior carbonfibre (driver zone + mid-tunnel) and standart rims. No lux. options (ie jbl, lift, navi, afs, front pdc etc.) Once I get the car, I'll put it on a scale. I expect it to weight around 1500 kg but from what you say, I should expect 1550 kg.
I installed a set of Carbonio extended shift paddles and they make a big difference when shifting in turns on the track. They eliminate the need to take your hand off the wheel to shift, or wait until you are straight/ 3 and 9 o'clock to shift. Installation was exactly as described in the instructions, which took less than an hour, and fit/finish is equal to the factory parts they replaced. Thanks to Carbonio for their generous sponsorship of this project. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice !!! I think this was my second upgrade after clear-bra, extra wheels and tires, track pads, and race brake fluid. I went with the F430 challenge shifter paddles, but the Carbonio are nicer (not available in early 2009). Stock paddles are not good for track use.
Wow. Nice to have a real sponsor for a change other than the 30 day sponsorship program I'm on with American Express at the moment. I'm envious. Lol. Fresh off my iPhone via Tapatalk
Here are some shots of the Scuderia with BBS FI wheels in gloss black, and Bridgestone RE-11's, 255/35R19 in the front, and 305/30R19 in the rear. I fully expected the Scuderia to push on the track on the OEM Pirelli Corsas, like the F430, but instead this car tended to oversteer a lot, even in 'RACE' mode, which provides moderate electronic intervention to neutralize the handling. Switching to the RE-11s was a huge improvement. The combination of the better rubber and wider rear tires have made this car very neutral and confidence-inspiring at the limit. The open spoke design on the BBS FI, coupled with the low-key black, definitely highlight the yellow calipers on the car. On the last photo, you can see the yellow Pagid RS-19 pad. I installed the same pads on mine and they are totally ok on the street, little bit less bite when cold compared to stock ones but better on the track and when in temperature.. For the moment no strange noises either! Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 con Tapatalk 2
The car gets very limited street use, but no squealing so far. I have been using carbon-ceramic brakes on street and track for 9 years now, and my experience is that you usually hear a hissing or humming noise. Squealing is very rare with any of the pads, and I've used a lot of different compounds.
These photos of the Scud were shot by the track photographer at TWS. The car is in Turn 10, the Carousel, a 180 degree tight right hand turn, and the slowest section of the track. You can see the loading compressing the front left suspension, compared to the photos above. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I almost forgot that your Scud does not have stripes. I was looking at the photos and thinking..."something is missing".... It's very special indeed. And as Freshmeat mentioned, the bumper lip is getting a bit too close to the track for comfort.
After a long break from the hot Texas summer to a cooler climate, I returned home on September 1st, and these arrived on September 4th. Fellow F-Chatter HCRosen passed them on to me, after he traded in his Yellow Scud for a red 458 Spider. They are OEM and they are spectacular. H.R. is a model citizen of the F-Chat community. I now have three different tire & wheel combinations for the Scud. Tech data and test results to follow shortly. For now, just some wheel porn to enjoy. Note the design detail in the last photo, that shows the asymmetric fillet in the spoke. I thought at first it had some aero function, but all the wheels are the same, which means that it is on the leading edge on one side of the car, and the trailing edge on the other side of the car. There was some discussion on another thread about the various factory wheel colors. So, here's a side by side comparison of the stock Scud wheel and the 16M forged wheel next to a baseline black wheel, under neutral lighting. The 16M wheel is slightly darker than the stock wheel. A rare opportunity presented itself today, to capture three cars on location, with the same signature configuration installed. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What a cool read, I wonder if any of my A&M friends have seen your car around! No stripe looks awesome on the Scuderia! I'm not sure if I skipped over it...but do you have an exhaust on it? Any videos from the track?
All the TAMSCC members are very familiar with these vehicles, as they make appearances at TAMU events throughout the year. The Porsche and the Ferrari are big draws at Fall and Spring Open House. The Touareg V10 TDI is a formidable Friday Night Rallye machine. Stock exhaust on the Ferrari. Fabspeed sport exhaust on the Porsche - 660 HP, 650 TQ. Fun facts about the photo: 12 wheels 12.9 liters of displacement 24 cylinders 4 turbochargers 64 brake pistons 17 forward gears 1 clutch
