You guys actually hate F1 drivers? Damn, that's way too extreme for me. I can't imagine getting so worked up over someone I don't know, have never met, probably will never met and who just drives cars for a living that I actually hate them. Life's too short guys.
I voted for him to stay..... http://en.espnf1.com/italy/motorsport/story/88535.html 'Morose and monosyllabic' Hamilton fuels speculation ESPN Staff September 10, 2012 Lewis Hamilton's impressive victory at Monza did nothing to quell speculation over his future, with many pundits noting that his post-race body language was more akin to a man whose race had gone all wrong. As the McLaren team celebrated - including Jenson Button who had every reason to be fed up after his forced retirement - "Hamilton posed stony-faced," noted Kevin Eason in The Times. "His post-race press conference would have been conducted with more verve by an undertaker. "He greeted his cruise to victory with all the enthusiasm of a man who has just lost a £10 note and left behind him in Monza a McLaren team puzzled as to where they stand in the bewildering life of Formula One's superstar." "The 27 year-old's subdued mood afterwards was a reminder of the baggage he carries with him, the prickliness of his character," wrote Tom Cary in the Daily Telegraph. "Hamilton mumbled his way through a few interviews, never showing much enthusiasm for the questions, even when they related to his win, before enjoying an awkward embrace with his team principal Martin Whitmarsh." Cary added that McLaren boss Ron Dennis looked on "stony-faced" and refused an invitation to join in the team photo or don the victory shirt. "Hamilton's uncertain future hangs like a bad smell over McLaren suggesting talks are going wrong," said Byron Young in the Daily Mirror. "He was inexplicably morose and monosyllabic as he employed his best poker face."
At some point McLaren are going to 'punch' him in the face with a take it or leave it, and petulant as he is, he might just leave it. The guy may need a fresh start to establish a new reputation, because my feeling is the team are getting a bit p'ssed off with his constant misdemeanors.
Fchat reflects the silliness, unpredictability and circus that is F1. Shocked?? Name another sport lacking reflection/speculation and or gossip. Dressage??
I read that he's unhappy that he's gotta take a paycut, from 15 mil to 5 mil a year. Thats the whole drama about.
There's passion and irrationality among sports fans? Shocking. Isn't that what sports are for? I agree that some fans take their sports way too seriously but if it keeps them from kicking the dog I'm OK with it.
5 mil? I doubt they want to drop it that low. Even Massa makes 11 mil IIRC. If I was LH I'd probably tell them to screw off too for that amount.
While logical inconsistencies bother me no end sports is not about logic. The fact that it's so much about statistics confuses some folk into thinking its rational.
Sport is all about passion is it not? Even us Yanks have our own favorite teams and drivers in our U.S. based sports.
OMG!!! McLaren are SERIOUSLY talking about bringing back Hekki Kovalainen!!! I WAS JUST JOKING, GUYS! DON'T DO IT!!! McLaren consider Kovalainen return as Mercedes turn up pursuit of Hamilton By SIMON CASS PUBLISHED: 16:30 EST, 10 September 2012 | UPDATED: 16:30 EST, 10 September 2012 Comments (28) Share McLaren are considering bringing back Heikki Kovalainen to replace Lewis Hamilton as speculation intensifies that the 2008 world champion will join Mercedes next season. Kovalainen shared the McLaren garage with Hamilton during his title-winning year and, despite being forced to make way for Jenson Button in 2010, remains highly regarded by the McLaren powerbrokers. On his way? Lewis Hamilton has been heavily linked with a switch to Mercedes from McLaren The 30-year-old Finn has so impressed with his performances for Caterham this year - dragging the best out of his underperforming car - that he has also been linked with moves to Ferrari and Lotus. McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh claimed in the wake of Hamilton's dominant win in the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday that they have 'no Plan B' should they lose him to Mercedes. Rick, I read it this morning and thought it was nuts, why not buy DiResta or Hulk out of there contracts?
It's a game. It's a way of telling Hamilton they have a Plan B if he leaves. Hamilton will be at McLaren forever. He cannot imagine himself in a weaker team, which Mercedes clearly is.
If Eddie Jordan is to be believed, Lewis is going to Mercedes... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/19489930 http://sniffpetrol.com/2012/09/05/4519/
Well, Button is perfectly capable of leading the team... and Kovalainen does seem to be driving better these days than he did during his time at McLaren - the difference is that he simply isn't currently in a car that is capable of winning races so it isn't as news-worthy. All the best, Andrew.
I'll say it once and I'll say it again, if Hammy leaves McL (he won't) he'd do well to look at Williams.
Not a bad idea especially if he can bring with him a "river of sponsorship money" it could be a win/win. Williams current chassis is clearly capable of winning races they just need to get rid of their 'crash test dummy'. I am of the mind that it would just simply be an honor to drive for such a hallowed and revered team but I tend to be a tad nostalgic.
I'm afraid I'm not old enough to remember Williams as a hallowed and revered team... they've always been back markers or mid-pack at best in my mind. I had thought, at one time, that Williams might be amongst the next teams to be sold to a major manufacturer, so their recent form has been something of a surprise to me. However, I still don't consider them serious title contenders over the duration of a season. The thing is, I am sure Hamilton has a similar view of Williams as not being a serious title contender as he isn't old enough to remember them mounting a serious title challenge either - he's younger than I am. All the best, Andrew.
